I’d seriously consider a Sierra EV at that price — you’re essentially getting a Rivian MAX++ battery for less money, plus high-speed charging. If they just didn't look like an Avalanche. As someone who road trips often and tows, there is only one option for the moment and that is GM.

Mackinaw City. A bit busier here and no trailer pull through.

Saw as high as 305 but didn't get a picture.

Most of the people charging at the station were not Rivians. It did error out at some point on my charge though, not sure what the deal was. Stopped with the truck at 56%. No issues after another session.

It would be interesting to get a screen shot of the charge curve from the app.

It is an impressive truck but it won't fit in my garage. It won't fit in many people's garage. That is a deal breaker for me.

Well, the profitability argument is kinda moot now. Rivian isn’t generating gross profits right now, without regulatory credits. And GOP just got rid of them completely today. Not sure when Rivian plans on achieving gross profit without regulatory credits, let alone operating profits.
This....I know it's off topic from the original post but Rivian losing their sell of regulatory credits has to put a damper in the plans. I know they were already factoring in losing the EV tax credit for customers but if I recall, the sell of regulatory credits has been a major contributor to them being profitable last few quarters.

I tried to use the Rivian app to initiate the charge and it errored out. I did not try to scan the QR code, and on the second station there was too much sun on the display anyway.

Didn't want to spend time on it since I have my family with me.

Yes there is.

Rivian is not one of the largest automobile manufacturers in the world with many profitable vehicles that can subsidize their unprofitable BEVs. If Rivian doesn't generate cash from each vehicle produced they go bankrupt.

There is a huge difference between GM and Rivian.
I sold my R1T quad for a Sierra Denali EV and you can clearly see that GM is a well established machine. R1T is like a VW GTI as the Denali is a Mercedes S series... different, but I prefer the Mercedes where I am in life. Also Sierra at full battery says 480 miles and I get 480 at 75MPH... I thought I did not have range anxiety with the R1T, but an after the Sierra, whenever I get into my wife's quad R1S, I have huge anxiety lol. The R1T though, I miss the acceleration and the handling. Everything else the Sierra is vastly superior.

The one downside of Rivian's "trailer stalls" - many of them are absolutely designed solely to accommodate Rivians with the charge port at the driver's front. If the charge port is in the back, having to "nose-in-park" to charge means the trailer stall is useless. (At that station, I'm betting the leftmost was meant to be the "trailer stall".) They do have quite a few locations with proper pull-through that should work on a rear-port, but even some of those assume your nose will be at the location of the dispenser, so you'd end up pulled *FORWARD* into an aisle/road with a rear-port vehicle; and if the port was rear passenger's side? forget it. (Like Rivian's original design for the R2/R3.)

Nice and congrats on the new GM product. One thing with Rivian, don't forget it's off road cred which the Sierra EV does not have. I know it's a moot point for many but also what draws folks to the Rivian brand.

You'd be surprised, I was in Georgia clay mud and what I can tell you is that in mud, the Sierra may have a slight advantage from the 4 wheel steer. I didn't think much of it, until I saw how much better control I had and the small amount of rear wiggle you have from steering actually breaks free. Additionally, the R1T I had did bog down even with traction control off, it didn't give me full throttle... the Sierra does give me full throttle so you can power through. The torque from standstill is significantly better on the Sierra as well. What I don't know though is how good it is in ruts and rock crawl since it only has two motors. The Rivian though has much better size to offload and the Sierra weighs too much too for any off-road... If I could have both, I would...

The gen 1.5 chargers have longer cords. I had to hang into the aisle by maybe a foot. You know what though? My trailer was in the opposite aisle by about the same amount. Trailer is under 22' long.

FWIW - Hit my local Tesla charging station this morning and got 215kw (for a few minutes...). Highest I have ever seen the recharge rate!

Well, 217kW is best I have seen a few weeks ago on our 23’ R1S Adventure Quad-Large. Was smoking out the gate for a whopping 8 minutes. Ha! Ha! Then throttled down and down and down. 29 minutes to charge from 26% to 80%. Don’t know if this is good, okay or great as just is what it is.

I go that until it hit 30%, then it dropped down and hovered around 130kw until it got into the 70% charge range. I charged to the 85% extended range in about 40 minutes.
