Have we received any official wording on this? Don't see them on the configurator on the Rivian website.

If this is the case, not to be dramatic, but a bit devastated. Probably the two best colors, IMO.
Wow, Canyon Red and Limestone, the two colors that were our finalists gone - Pretty disappointing. We went with Canyon Red!

Bleeeh I was looking forward to replacing my GW T with a RC w/OC interior. I should’ve waited for that to be available 2 years ago.

I always thought limestone was one of the most popular colors. You see them everywhere. There's one in my carport.

This has to be true. I see it everywhere here in SoCal. There is a Limestone R1T up the street from us. And we own a Limestone R1S.

Since we don’t have a garage I needed a color that would hide the dirt and tree debris, but wasn’t white. Limestone and LA Silver were the finalists but Limestone was the far more interesting color so we chose it. A shame it’s going away but I’ll be enjoying mine for many years to come!

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.
Remember folks, we're enthusiasts...aka not a great representation of the larger target market. We want the quad, the tank turn, the bright colors.

But most people sadly *want* bland colors so as to fit in with the masses (and for future resale to others in the masses).

For the rest of us, it's a slow death of personality directly from the manufacturer. But thankfully, vinyl wraps are a thing.
I researched this before and it turns out that brightly colored used vehicles sell for more money, especially yellow! If this isn’t a reason for Rivian to bring back Compass Yellow I don’t know what is.

I remember when I bought my Honda Fit back in 2009. I swear I didn’t have to pay anything extra for the blue paint option. When did paying extra for the majority of the color choices become a thing?

I haven’t seen anyone talk about this yet. Wondering if they made this change to make way for new colors for R2 in the factory and needed to make a cut to two colors. Wonder if those colors will be R2 exclusive or not. 🤔
Sadly I think they’re reducing the number of colors for the R2, since it will their first mass produced vehicle and they’re trying to simplify things and cut costs. Here’s how I think it will go. Not totally grayscale, but close:

Launch Green
Silver (or that darker metallic gray that they wrapped one of the prototypes with)
Black
White
Rivian Blue

That’s it. They’ll probably do limited edition colors at some point,

Rivian's masterpiece! With Trump tariff b.s. nixing my 24" wheel order, I painted my 21's.

So good! I think painting the 21s was the better move. They look fantastic.

The 24"s wheels are the thing I dislike most about my Sierra Denali EV. I hope to replace them soon.

I planned to go White anyways, however if I can get my eyes on Launch Green in person I may purchase if it’s not much more outside of my budget.

I’m currently leasing a white Model 3. I’ve never owned a white vehicle before, but it really does reflect heat much better than the dark blue and dark green vehicles I’ve had in the past, especially if you don’t have a garage. I think this could potentially give me more battery life and range, because the cabin overheat protection and AC doesn’t have to work as hard. I kind of wish I went with the white interior too, but I was worried about staining and the extra expense.

I think the default color for the R2 is going to be that dark silver/gray they showed off. Tesla went with a dark gray as their default color a while back too. I wonder if this is some kind of cost cutting measure, like all of the waste paint mixed together?

Hopefully Launch Green won’t cost too much, but given that it’ll be on a launch vehicle it’ll probably have a premium. If I understand correctly this is one of the base coats on all Rivians. Not the BiW (body in white), but an anti-corrosion coating of some sort. It’s like a slate green color. Definitely lighter than Forest Green, which I love, but able to reflect more heat.

I wish Rivian would partner with a company to do wraps. Even selling their in-house wraps that their test vehicles use would be cool. I think Slate gets this better than most companies.
