I hope this means we will actually see traffic lights on intersections on the map similar to Tesla.
We already have this with Mapbox. It does NOTHING other than show there is a signal there. There is no status or usefulness.

Google maps on my Sierra likes to show stop signs on the road that actually belong to the ORV/Paths next to the road I'm driving on. It's not terribly reliable in a lot of areas.

Yes... I've seen in it first hand in my neighbors R1 for a few months already. He's part of the beta test program.
Tell him to go up in the San Bernardino mountains and make sure it works offline 4wheeling for least basic mapping.

While I'm not a big fan of the current navigation system, lately it has been more accurate than Waze in determining arrival time. Google Maps is usually worse, and recent reports are showing poor rerouting functions. That being said, I think overall this is a good idea, as it frees up Rivian to focus on other things and hopefully Google will straighten out their map issues.
The other positive is that this is clearly the next step on the path to Android Auto!

Happy to see this update, it’s been much-needed for quite a while. It should have been done years ago. Frankly I would have rather they used Apple Maps, which are much more beautiful. But truly, they should allow CarPlay so that people can choose the maps they want, including OnX for off-road maps. I love Rivian, and I will get a new one because of the off-road capability, but they need to offer consumers more options.

I spent some time in the Lucid Gravity recently and I must say, the interior is incredible, the software is really great and of course, many technology options like augmented heads up display and massaging super comfortable seats, and it has CarPlay. I will still buy the Rivian because of its ground clearance and exterior design, but the lucid gravity interior comfort and features and software are far far far better and I wish we had that.

You know, I wanted to complain how my Gen 1 doesn’t get as much love anymore, but then I remembered that my previous vehicle (2019 Durango) was only getting OTA updates once or twice per year, and there were zero release notes.
Rivian is still miles ahead of competitors.

Totalled. You better dump your abandonwagon ASAP and enlighten another brand with your negativity.

I'd also like to see upcoming Stop signs on my route. That's an extra layer of safety for me while navigating streets in new places.

not really, because if people want to buy a computer focused electric vehicle, which gets regular software updates and better over time, they really only have three options, Rivian, Lucid and Tesla. So Rivian really needs to keep their software and technology options up to speed.

I was hoping for this: “Fixed a not-so-rare condition of drivers whining about somebody somewhere getting something they did not get even when they get one of their most requested features.” Unfortunately no such luck. Maybe next time!

I couldn't disagree more. Receiving monthly updates, the vast majority being equal to those of Gen 2, is far from abandonware. Really, really far.

3+ years of suspension refinements obviously means that it won't need as many or as frequent updates as Gen 2 vehicles.
