Anyone have any experience yet with the Gen2 suspension changes?

Went for my first post update drive this morning and the ride was terrible. Harsh, noisy, out of sync, etc. All ride heights and feels were bad. Did this update break my suspension!?!

The Google Maps app does that for you? Or are you talking about the Rivian app?
I think you are referring to the Rivian App, we are talking about the Google Maps app.
Sorry, you are correct. I thought you were referring to the new Rivian app functionality.

Anyone else notice chargers are missing in the updated map? I made sure there are no filters on but the phone app is missing chargers I know exist and are in other apps like ABRP.

2025 Rivian R1T - Large. Delivered on November 23, 2024.

That doesn't sound right. It could be a bad data signal, or maybe you need a quick soft reboot.
Tried that - just did a soft reboot, yet is still renders worse than our 2015 Nissan Rogue. Had much smoother guidance lines with the old version. This is not an improvement.

REVISED: It's Google Maps that SUCKS. Used my Android phone to plot a course through that same cloverleaf. Got the same jagged lines.

I haven't got the new update yet, but I noticed yesterday that the chargers weren't showing on my "old" map. Wonder if it's a network issue.

I took my R1T for a charge this morning and used the new Google Maps from the center screen.

I do not like it! The rendering was terrible! It looked like something from a 1990's discount GPS. Instead of the route following a smooth curve (like at cloverleaf on-ramp), the arc of the path was made up of short, straight lines joined end-to-end. Not impressed if this is considered "an improvement".

I had no issues, at all, with the previous navigation system.
I've seen this on my Sierra in instances where we lost cell service in the middle of the route calculation. It was much more jagged than your screenshots though.

New GMaps update worked swimmingly today for 13 plot points. A gripe would be the large font in the top left direction box, it's YUGE. After a few hours driving the only thing I currently miss about MapBox is the 3D "view"; at least Googles sat is updated/current!

Just more of Gen 1 is yesterday's news. I don't see why a lot of these can be ported over to Gen 1. The more I see of these, the less likely my next truck will be a Rivian.
people waited years for their Gen 1 vehicles. Maybe if Rivian made actual, substantial changes to Gen 2 they wouldn’t have to invent differentiation between the lines with minor software changes. Can’t wait to see them do this to the current Gen 2 owners in 2 years when a more of the same Gen 3 comes out.

Safe to say my next EV will not be a Rivian

I bought a TV a few years ago, and the new ones all have better resolution. Fucking Samsung amirite?

How did you manage to make it through medical school with such a victim complex and a lack of understanding of how product upgrades work?

Had that happen to me trying to get to the Wilderness lodge in the Grand Tetons a while back. At night. During a new moon. WAS NOT HAPPY.

The changes to the underlying SDV architecture from Gen 1 to Gen 2 are pretty substantial - notably the shift from 17 to 7 ECUs. That change has a lot to do with why you may see growing substantive differences in what the software updates can deliver to Gen 1 vs Gen 2. I really don't believe there's any grand conspiracy to create forced obsolescence - in fact it seems like the team has been going out of their way to deliver meaningful updates to Gen 1 despite the added complexity. You should feel free to pick a different vehicle in the future but I'm curious which OEM has been offering better prior model year support/updates than Rivian?

In regard to other OEMs, my observation has been that within the Tesla owner forums - even though Tesla has superb software overall - there are many complaints from model year '23 owners about the lack of meaningful updates as Tesla is exclusively focused on models from '24 and onwards that are built on their refreshed architecture - not just updates like self driving changes, but things like their new headlight features are not coming to the pre '24 models.

Similarly, many people love those new Cadillac EVs but my understanding is that the software experience and support is terrible - and in the case of the EQ for example, they've got at least 70+ ECU to interface with so it also makes the process to deliver these types of software + firmware updates much much more complex.
