I hope Gen 3 will have a redesigned dashboard with a top surface that has more structural integrity than wet cardboard, better vent placement, and at least one glovebox.
I’m genuinely curious what are people wanting a glovebox store in the glovebox?

What is the deal with people and the removed doors???

Just last week, I drove by a guy putting the door back on, on his Bronco. I though, as I drove by, whot a pain in the arse.

And in the bottom image (btw, nice photoshop/AI images) no windshield either. Again, why? Bugs in your face??

Why not just ride a motorcycle???
You good boss? Need a welfare check or simply some readers?

I haven't heard them I wouldn't know.

I did however sell car audio professionally in the past, I have listened to thousands of factory car audio systems, I have built thousands of car audio systems, along with home audio ranging from the lowest possible cost upgrade up to $100k systems.

The truck has no bass, the most important factor in a well rounded audio system is the subwoofer, not the only important thing but absolutely without a doubt the most impactful part of any sound system.
something is wrong with your truck

edit: listen in apple music atmos

There is no way an EV OEM would spend crazy money in the audio department. I would love Sonus Faber speakers and Michi components (like my home stereo), but that’s not feasible…largely because my home stereo is similar in price to my R1S.

I agree on the subwoofer. The G2 audio is lacking fullness in the mids and lows (not to mention the speakers rattle at low volumes). Adjusting DSP through updates is possible, but I would love to see the specs on the amplifier. Given the sound, I wouldn’t be surprised with serious hardware limitations.

Coming from a RAM. The Rivian is not a full size truck. It's in-between mid size and full.

Everyone has different needs. I’ve had maps specific to some parks, a measuring tape, a Swiss Army knife, binoculars., registration, insurance card, napkins, plastic utensils, hand sanitizer, moisturizer, sunscreen,, and multiple pairs of sunglasses. Oh, and occasionally, gloves.

Gloveboxes are typically easy to see into when open while keeping everything hidden from view when closed.

A lot of people value glovebox space and I’ve rarely seen vehicles without one. I’m glad that Rivian has added them to the upcoming R2 and R3(X) vehicles.

The refresh on the R1 better not happen until after full profitability. They should continue to improve weak spots on the existing line. The half-shafts are notoriously problematic right now.
I agree, but they have to stay competitive. The competition already beats Rivian in some key areas such as range and charging speed.

While I am OK with the Gen2 DCFC speed, it should be faster or they will lose sales to competitors who are already faster. And they should put a 180 kWh battery in there, especially for towing range. Hopefully energy density will improve enough for them to do it in a Gen3 without increasing the weight of the truck.

Here's my wishlist of things for Gen 3.

I remain amazed at the R1T, and I don't want any other vehicle. However, there's still some room to optimize.

I also think Rivian should have a more affordable truck option. This could either be a lower trim Gen 3 R1T, or a different model altogether.

Big items:

-Faster charging, as measured in miles per minute of charging.
-More powerful AC
-Manual door locks & latches (this is non-negotiable for me, and the only item here I'd switch brands over)
-Accessible 12V power throughout the vehicle (frunk, interior, gear tunnel, bed)
-A front trunk with the waterfall style opening, like the F150. That would be a huge increase in usability.

Minor quality of life items:

-More USB-C charging ports in the driver area, including in the drawer where the speaker used to be.
-A wireless phone charger that actually works at least as well as the SOONish ones.
-Holders for both wide and narrow water bottles.
-Better usage of the gear-tunnel door space. The air compressor cable packs too tight, and the first aid kit isn't much better. This can be designed to be easier to use, have better latches, and use the other half of each door for additional storage space.
-Increased V2L capability to at least 1,800W, if not twice that.
-A low pressure port or adapter for the air compressor. This would be for filling things like air-mattresses, rafts, etc.
-An option for some type of tailgate step.
-I'd hope it's designed with backwards compatibility for big accessories like campers, tents, crossbars, etc. The major dimensions are pretty good and don't need to be fiddled with.
-Integrations or API's for third party apps like onX, weather, etc.

Yea I traded my Lightning for my R1T. No way they are the same width. Way easier to back out of the garage. Don't even need to look at my side mirrors.

For a Gen 3 R1S, a longer wheelbase like the R1T. More space, better ride. R1S extended cab?

Gen1 Large Quad here. After towing my race car around, including tow 1000 mile roundtrips, these are my biggest gripes. I was an original preorder for the 180 kWh pack they were supposed to make and cancelled and wish I had the extra range while towing. DC charging speeds above 70% absolutely suck...and then see above comments on range. While towing I frequently need to charge over 80% to make it to the next charging stop and going from 80-90% at 50 kW is awful. I'm sure this is also tied to better thermal management of the battery, both in design and system cooling capacity.

Ironically, the chemistry/cell change for Gen2 means that a 180 kWh pack is doable with the 11 modules they can fit in the R1T frame (over original 9 module pack) without any intrusion into existing storage spaces. The original 180 kWh pack was going to be 12 modules and eat into the gear tunnel, IIRC. In any case, if they do these things for a Gen3, I'll upgrade for sure.

This weekend I did a long drive that required a DCFC stop to make it home. It took 42 minutes to charge from 10% to 82% on a Tesla SC. That is at the time limit for me. Still acceptable, but it would have been nice to have that take 30 minutes instead.

I can definitely see how painful a 90%+ charge would be on a trip. I would plan a sit-down, full-service meal for those (lunch or dinner). That often isn't possible, of course.
