Connect+ Renewal Already... Are You Renewing?

for those without connect+

1. do you still get live traffic updates on your route? Maybe you got the live traffic before leaving your home wifi but during the drive do you still get it?
2. Live updates regarding charger availability for fast charging? Important when road tripping,.

Supposedly yes on both and traffic looks accurate enough but I don't know just how "live" (current) either is. Charger usage has never seemed updated for non-RAN sites for me even before C+.

Totally worth it. I am now a huge Tidal fan, it sounds amazing n the truck and I have fallen in love with music again; I can't stand listening to music over bluetooth, always seems to lack depth. The hotspot is super reliable and strong and is a different carrier compared to our cell service so we almost always have hotspot coverage available no matter where we travel.

Tesla superchargers are real time availability on my Rivian Nav, this is bulk of my charger usage when I road trip

I've been without C+ for a year. Google maps works great, still get real time traffic updates. Charger availability, prices, open/closed, etc also still get updated in real time as well. I've got 4 kids and when we travel we usually charge and bathroom break. No one is really in the car watching videos. As an aside I think we could all do with having less screen time. Regardless, I haven't really found myself missing anything although clearly many people use and depend on C+ daily. Only you can decide what is best for you!

Maybe if I'm going to go on another month-long road trip I'll re-up, but since it became paid, I haven't found a need to pay for it.

I'm thinking it's been a waste. I can't even get spotify to log in on the R1 and I don't use any of the other "benefits" anyway.

I was firmly in the "definitely don't need it, I have unlimited data" camp, but found C+ to be extremely useful. My overachieving daughter hates wasting time, so while riding home from school or in between matches at wrestling tournaments, she's doing her homework on her laptop. Everything's online now.

I loathe the steaming apps and never use them, but providing the means for her to maximize her downtime still makes the $149 a great value.

And yes, she really is doing homework. I was honestly shocked.

It's very interesting to read so many of you simply say "it's worth it". Its worth it because why?

I am just tired of subscription after subscription on just about everything. I really don't care about the cost. If Rivian had one time fee for few hundred of dollars to have the service for the life of the vehicle under my ownership, I'd do that over annual renewal.

I feel like I am being nickeled and dimed to death by everything from streaming services to now vehicles. I guess I should be happy that at least I can pay Rivian once a year and be done with it.

It's the new paradigm. We now have to re-pay for music (subscriptions) we already own because Rivian insists on not including USB playback.

We use a Google nest doorbell as our doggie cam. So in this case, having the WiFi hotspot is necessary.

Not only nickel-and-dimed on subscription fees, but then forced into specific ecosystems. I already have my desired musical ecosystem. What I DO NOT WANT is another subscription on top of that. Even if Tidal /Apple Music were 100% free, that's another account (that could be hacked, leaked or compromised), more of my information being tracked, and another bunch of playlists to curate that'd be separate from the ecosystem I use when working out or listening to music on my computer. I'd like to stay on my ecosystem, that's already within my budget and purview, that I've been curating for as long as I can remember.

Just seems silly to compromise AND pay for the opportunity to compromise.
