What’s everyone’s experience on service issues with their truck?
I’ve had 34 issues since I bought my truck in 22. Some have been major that would’ve cost thousands each and a few minor. Hard to believe this is standard. In Colorado they are opening 2 more service centers in a few months which will be helpful as current wait time is about 8 weeks… currently it’s completely unacceptable.

Nice that your wait is only 8 weeks. When I made an appointment for my 12v a few weeks ago, the wait was closer to 12 weeks. They sped it up and I had the truck back in a week and a half though.

@MStillman can you give summary of your issues? Is it repeated visits for same issue? Or 34 unique issues? How many were NVH? How many software? Etc

63k 2023 Gen1 Quad 2 ting washer replacements for knocking and one trim piece adjustment… I did find a factory stripped sub-frame bolt when installing my running boards that they replaced while it was in for the suspension check… All in about $250 in maintenance and just installed new Michelin Defender tires! This truck has been amazing!

Some were repeat as I’ve needed tonneau replacement twice as well as other issues. Software, charging, wi-fi, clunking noises, torn bushings, control arm… it’s been just about everything! I’ve just attached a few screenshots.

Had my R1T since early 2023. Haven't added them up but I'm probably close to 35-40 issues which would have cost well over $25000. With my warranty ending soon (mileage), I decided to sell. Still loved the vehicle but just didnt want to deal with the 3-6 month service queue (Seattle) and the cost of out of pocket repairs.

Exactly where I am at now. Have 2 more issues, cracked moonroof & torn bushings again that will be addressed in another week. Then I will be selling. I’m not about to get stuck with these expenses after warranty runs out!

I’ve generally loved my R1T for all the reasons most owners do. Four dampener replacements and a couple of other repairs would have cost me close to $20K. Other than that, the truck has been outstanding. The only way I felt comfortable keeping it was by picking up an extended warranty at 57,500 miles. I’m at 61K now, covered until 137K, and I’ll hit the mileage cap long before the time runs out. Plan is simple: run the wheels off this thing.

Any recommendations for extended warranty providers? Any feedback dealing with repair reimbursements would be particularly very helpful!

A tale of two R1's (excluding wheel rotation, inspections and other routine maintenance):

Gen1 R1S Dual Motor/Large:
  • Early 2024 dual motor ~18K miles:
    • One mobile service appointment for a frunk sensor approx 2 months after picking up.

Gen2 R1T Tri Motor/Max:
  • Note this is incomplete - its actually more than follows, this is just from the 9 invoices I downloaded from the app.
  • Period/Odo:Dec 30, 2024 → Sep 12, 2025; ~215 → 5,192 mi.
    • Work orders: 9, 47 issues.
    • Days out of service: ~87 across five multi-day visits (02/06→03/18; 03/20→03/24; 03/31→04/11; 05/15→06/05; 09/02→09/12).
    • Warranty actions (examples): front camera module replaced; front long-range radar + wiring harness replaced and calibrated; A-pillar trim replaced; LH fixed glass + run-channel replaced; LH mirror assembly replaced for moisture intrusion; frunk closeout whistle corrected; four-wheel alignment; drive-unit insulator interference corrected; OTA stuck at 94% redeployed; wireless charger short-to-ground repaired.
    • Campaigns (excluded): FSAM-1635 12-V battery.
    • Current status: “Do not drive,” flatbed to Normal in progress.
    • Miles per repair: ≈305.

4 trips to the service center since May 2023. Only one true issue, which was resolved in about 3-5 days if I remember correctly (unexpected turtle mode). Other trips were for tire rotations, at which they took care of minor/preventative things (e.g., replaced 12-volts before there ever was a problem, update to microphone to improve phone call quality)

Sheesh, does your state not have lemon law? Ours is 30 days total out of service and you’re eligible.

Bought in January 2023. Only had a broken air compressor upon 2nd use use and a suspension retrofit in summer 2025 due to the air suspension seeping. I only have 17k miles but it’s been very reliable for me so far.

I don't think I've had 34 different issues but I've had a few major ones that have left me stranded, some on road trips others closer to home. My dream car has turned out to be a nightmare. I thought I'd never say this but I can't wait to get rid of it. When it worked, I loved it, but can't ignore the unreliability and the lack of anything resembling good service.
