I was washing my truck today and happened to look at the calipers and I said to myself, would be nice if they sparkled like the truck.
I tried to wash them to no avail.
I used a rag and moved it back and forth behind the rim (I have 22’s) and it helped but not great.
question is, has anyone thought of a way to clean them without removing the tires and without moving the truck (so that you can clean every spot between the spokes)?
I looked but couldn’t find any topics on this.
thx all!!!

I bought a bunch of nice brushes from Autozone and slim sponges to try to get in between of the 20" wheel and the calipers plus clean the wheels / tires.

Also I use a foam cannon and 3 bucket wash so one bucket is dedicated to wheels and I do them first. I'll hit them again when I wash the whole body with the remaining 2 buckets. This helps get them as clean as possible.

Additionally, look at some iron remover (Carpro, Adam's, Griot's, Meguaires, etc all make some). It will help dislodge some of the brake dust and other contaminants that are embedded in the caliper. It's pretty easy...spray, wait a minute, rinse or wash/rinse.

Only needs to be done once in a blue moon, and probably less so on EVs (since less brake dust), but still good to have in the arsenal.

I clean mine with simple green and a rag, rinse with water. Living in SoCal do not see much rain or snow so I find mine only need to be cleaned when I rotate my tires.

I use an automated car wash that has a tire and wheel sprayer which seems to help a lot. I detail and re-ceramic the wheels and tires about every 2-3 months. Adam’s Graphene tire coating is super long lasting. And I use their wheel and tire cleaner which really helps with the calipers too. This is my wheel and tire kit, optimized over the years, and I love it. That dressing applicator brush is a total game changer. Cleaning the calipers is more of a chemical process than scrubbing, in my experience, but may take some scrubbing in some spots.

Thx all. I do need to upgrade my soap and by doing so I will pick up some wheel cleaner and see what happens. My next rotation is in another 3500 miles so I will def clean them good then but living in the northeast we get a lot of days where they get dirty. Even though I may only touch the brake pedal one or two times a year (so no brake dust).

I've always washed mine with a dish sponge and car wash soap during every wash. I find this has helped keep them clean and sparkly. Additionally, on the standard 20" wheels, there is a gray space right behind the spokes that runs around the entire wheel and I use the sponge on that space as well.

Once you get them clean, keep at it and it only takes a few minutes during each wash.

Hmm, might be worth removing the wheels and putting ceramic coating on the calipers. Oh....I think I have a project this evening! I've ceramic coated EVERYTHING, inside and out, except that.
