Rex got hit by a rock from a dump truck last week (company said can't prove it and not our responsibility). I have Rivian/Nationwide insurance. Rivian rep gave estimate of ~$2,300 at the Sterling, VA service center, but Nationwide rep says their prevailing rate is $1,130 and I can pay out of pocket and request reimbursement of fair and reasonable costs.
Don't want to go to Safelite due to R1S calibration required for rain sensing, cameras, etc..
Any advice?

Do you catch it on cam? It would be worth looking at your hard drive to see if you can prove the rock came from the dump truck to get them to pay for it.

Look for a highly rated local glass shop. They'll be able to order the OEM windshield and install it. If the glass is removed properly, no calibration will be necessary.

100% worth paying out of pocket for Rivian to do replacement and get full reimbursement later.

Calibration isn't the issue, you usually don't need that, but quality of installation can be a problem at Safelite. Also, Safelite doesn't replace the rain sensor, they reuse the previous which can be a problem. The adhesive is one-time use on that sensor.

You'll hear mixed reviews on Safelite installation. You may hear complaints on wait times for Rivian, but you won't get mixed reviews.

Thanks @Riviot Was leaning that way and a chance to check out the Sterling SC which is much closer to my house than the MD ones.

I've replaced 2 windshields so far, both $1900 out of pocket at Miami SC, Safelight reimbursed me a few weeks later.

I've successfully sued in small claims court and won for this (not a Rivian). Right AFTER it happened I got a quick video, that may have helped. Did you save the video of the event from the drive cam?
