Advice full ppf - clear matte or clear gloss

Purchased a 2026 R1T Quad Max in Glaciar White. Dropping off tomorrow for a full ppf along with full exterior ceramic coat. I love the look of the truck now. Torn between a clear matte ppf versus clear gloss.

Anyone who did matte ppf regret it? I’m worried I’d get tired of the matte look.

Clear gloss, IMO. You can always let it get dirty and then it'll look more like a matte finish. When you get tired of the matte finish, just wash it to get the gloss look back. Don't rinse, then repeat.

Second the clear gloss. I am taking my new toy (not Rivian) in for partial PPF Monday. Xpel Ultimate Plus on the front, hood, fenders, rockers and behind the rear wheels. Ceramic coating with Xpel Fusion Ceramic Coat the entire vehicle and wheels.

I like shinny things. Not a fan of satin or mat finished look.

Clear. Friend with a white R1S went through the same thing and did clear in the end. I have ECG R1S and did clear. The only car I like matte on is a black or grey G-wagon.

Clear gloss. I DIY'd from the TWraps kit, and at a distance it's indistinguishable from the factory paint job, which is what I wanted. My plan is to tear it off in 5-6 years and decide then whether to re-apply or roll for the next 5 years with a brand-new-looking naked paint job.

Matte! I also recommend debadging and blacking out the chrome.

Clear, tint your lights and stormtrooper that out! It’ll look nice with the wheels.

Mine’s not white, but this is my clear matte PPF on Launch Green. 18 months in and still loving it. Here’s the before and after:

Looks a heck of a lot like my truck. I vote matte. Though I chose white, it is a very common color, and matte will help it stand out a bit. A friend of mine had his white Model S wrapped in matte PPF and it looked sharp.

Just picked up my 2026 R1S Quad yesterday with full clear XPEL treatment. It really looks great. Based on my experience with my 2023 R1S factory applied front only treatment the finish will look new for many years.
