R1S Gen 1 Quad. First issue with it was corrosion on the rear passenger door at barely 3 months old. Door replaced.

11.5k miles in and not even two years old, a routine inspection of the underside last weekend showed what looks like a leaking CV boot on the front passenger wheel; plenty of grease splatter on the wheel control arms, brake caliper, and on the boot itself.

Earliest appt. at nearest SC Dec 19. Drivable, maybe.

Sadly, I know that Rivians are by definition ticking time bombs in terms of (lots of) mechanical and functional issues. Mine just went off, but a CV boot already leaking this early!!?
C'mon, Rivian.

Probably not what you want to hear, but that is a very minor CV boot leak. Good thing is, Rivian will replace the whole CV axle. If you have any other quirks, this is a good time to pile them on.

Sometimes, things happen... Google any luxury brand that has an owners forum and you will find someone asking about a leaking CV boot.

Thank you. I know. It really does not look like a major deal, at least right now. It just seems odd to me to have something like this happen so early. And of course wonder what might be next.
Nearest SC is 300 miles away in Seattle. Fortunately for me, I can make the trip any day. But winter's coming!!!

Nothing else happening yet.

Guess it depends on the cause of the leak. If the leak was caused by external damage, that would be like complaining about a nail puncture in a 70k miles tire 500 miles after install.

We are looking at the same picture here... Looks spotless under there, aside from the small leak. If grease fails and liquifies in a CV joint, then it can seep out of the ends and look like you have a bad joint. Who's knows until December....

Extremely doubtful that this is external damage. It looks like lousy Rivian reliability, but fair enough, I am not 100% certain.

Spotless because I already had cleaned up the brake caliper and upper control arm. There was grease caked on the caliper brake line plus quite a bit of grease splatter on the upper control arm.

Where was the corrosion on your door?

I’m waiting on a service appt for some kind of paint bubbling that appeared on the passenger side rear door recently.
