Honestly, I hate it. It’s tearing through my wipers to swipe multiple times a day on dry glass, and it’s creating constant smears across my field of view. The only way to turn it off is to turn off auto wipers, but I haven’t had a car without that in a decade. It should be a toggle on if you want it.

I don't have auto wipers on any of my vehicles turned on. All windshields are ceramic coated and wipers are used by exception, even in rain. I don't use/need wipers.

I didn't even know that there is a such a thing as the Curtesy Swipe on Rivian.

Did you add on the ceramic coating?

Uh, yes, there is.
There isn’t. It’s not an intentional feature. It’s the rain sensor mistaking dirty windshield or glare as rain drops. If it bugs you enough to post about it, set wipers to off instead of auto, it’s that simple. Whenever you do want a quick wipe, momentary press of the washer button at end of left stalk. Press and hold if you want it to squirt and wipe. If it does actually rain, it’s quick and easy to set it to auto or any of the other settings.

This. I had it bad enough with my truck that I just turned off auto wipers until it actually rained. My sensor separated from the windshield a year ago and I had a new sensor installed and calibrated. Since then I can leave auto wipers on and very rarely ever see the "courtesy swipe" if I've been parked outside for awhile and there's dust on the window or something. But in practice, it rarely happens now.

No, no there is not.
This is likely a situation of a dirty windshield triggering the sensors. If you live in an area with lots of pollen, bugs, or leaves, the wipers will turn on to attempt to clear them, but if your windshield is clean and debris free, the wipers will NOT turn on.

Yeah, I'm with you, but also yes, I just turned off Auto. What bugs me about that is having to double-tap the switch to actually traverse the menu. It's just one more thing you have to do while driving. Not a showstopper, but is annoying

Yes, there is. You can search it in the forums or talk to a Rivian cs rep. My windshield is brand new and my car is garaged. It’s crystal clear. Still swipes when I put it in gear. So I talked to the mobile guy who told me it’s a courtesy swipe. I then called to see if I can turn it off, they said it’s a feature and cannot be turned off. Both called it the same thing. Search it.

All I can tell you is that I’ve had my R1S for just shy of 1 year, every single day of it with the windshield wipers on auto and the only time they engage is when there is something detected on the windshield. You may want to probe more to get the sensors looked at. Because that is not actually a feature.

Agree. Had Mr R1T for almost 3 years and it only down the wipe when there is dust or pollen on the windshield.

It was an added feature on update. I checked with RIVIAN.
