#Finally. Gear Shop PTC (Powered Tonneau Cover) installed today!

And they said it couldn’t be done!

Got a shiny new tiny-slat PTC (v2) installed today at El Segundo SC. SC said it is the first one they’ve done. Took 7 hours.

I had PTC on my order back in 2021 then Rivian killed v1 and took it off my order. Nice to finally have the truck I wanted.

I’ll save all the details but after I set the appointment, a month ago, Rivian royally tried to screw this up:

• Said my appointment was canceled because the PTC “wasn’t for sale yet” (but didn’t actually cancel it)
• Said my VIN was ineligible (misread “can” as “cannot” )
• Said the parts weren’t available (they were)
• Didn’t call me back or respond to my messages in the app asking to reconfirm the appointment

Regardless, I’m stoked to finally have it. Added button works well. Looks great, hopefully it is robust.

What VIN do you have? For a VIN ending in 012345, just providing "12,xxx" is close enough.

Technically I was right, it couldn't, until they figured out to just Dremel off that bolt in the way.

Interesting. I'm 199xx and was told no. Gives me hope, I guess. Does the service order show that they had to replace a harness to install it?

Just got my PTC replaced with v2 last month. Surprised my v1 lasted this long. It is so much better! My VIN - 118xx

I have an appointment for Nov 11th to have the PTC installed. Was part of the 2023 group that was delivered without and was worried mine was not retrofittable, but they said the VIN 223XX was on the good list, so we shall see. I’m still bracing for last minute “whooops we were wrong”, but cautiously optimistic I can get it finally installed. It’s been a long wait for something I originally had scoped into my reservation build.

18xxx VIN with all the outlets (under dash, in frunk) and was told NOT eligible.

@Rivian deception at its best. This install clearly shows it's 100% doable for all VINs, just needs the wiring harness replaced. Hmmm, how did we figure that out again?
