I dropped my house key (sans key ring) down there and had to remove the driver’s seat to retrieve it. Took 45 min tops.
I'm curious...in case I have to do it in the future...do you remember what size socket you used to remove the bolts? Did you use a torque wrench to make sure they were properly tightened? Did you have to totally remove all of the bolts? Was there any electrical connections that needed to be undone?

Sorry. I thought I had two questions. lol

No, I did not expect them to do it for free nor did I intend to suggest as much with my question. Just wondering what others did with similar issues. I tried the gripper tool, but just can’t seem to snag the item from under there.
Not bad. BWM asked me $1,500 for the same job (for the curious here, it was my wedding ring...). They said it's expensive because they have to disable the airbags.

In the ends, as an act of God, the ring rolled over after a couple weeks.

I had a money clip fly off a too skinny stack of 20's, it is lodged under the seat in a hole or channel where the seats are bolted in. I can touch it with the end of a finger but can't grab it or get a magnet to it. I just went and bought a nicer one.

Save time, money, and effort. Why don't you just find a huge empty parking lot and run 0-100mph-0. Maybe make some sharp turns at high speed (don't worry you won't flip the car). Extremely high chance your coin flies out from underneath your seat and as an added bonus you get to wear a sh!t eating grin on your face the whole time if you ignore your crying tires.

Yep, remove the seat yourself. You probably don't even need to do a lot of work. Probably could remove the bolts and tip it back/forward and retrieve the object.
One caveat to this....I would find out the torque specs and tighten with a toque ratchet if you decide to do this yourself.. Or rather I feel compelled to say this should be a requirement if doing a seat yourself.

It was a while ago so I don’t remember the socket size or torque setting. But as I recall I didn’t need to disconnect the electrical connection since after removing all of the bolts I merely tilted the seat forward enough that I could retrieve the key.

If I ever dropped a coin and could not get out, I would stuff an old sock down there to keep the coin from rolling around.
It's open, because there is something that needs cooling. I am not defending the design, just calling out what it is. If you stuff a sock, it would overheat and fail/catch fire.

I believe one seat has the audio amp and other has the invertor in G1.

A screen like the window screen could work, but I didn't take a close look to see if this is possible. I use a filler cushion between seat and console to prevent this from happening.

This one (and it catches all the French fries)

Interesting. I tried that one and couldn't get it to fit. I wonder if there's something oddly different about tolerances with my Forest Edge interior? Or maybe I didn't just cram it hard enough. 😆

I bought one of these and it's too thick. I was going to return it but maybe I'll give it another college try.
It should work. It's a very tight fit and you have to pull (stretch) the thing forward after you hook it around the seat belt female buckle end and push down from the top at the same time. Once it's in there, it doesn't move and has worked very well for me. I have one one both front seats.

It's a lot of hard cramming, for sure.

I have this exact brand in my R1S. It fits tight, which is what you want. ;)
