👎👎 Makes me much less interested in getting another Rivian.

RJ already had an incentive comp package. But now that the stock price is lower, he gets to reset expectations? Too bad original shareholders who bought at IPO can’t do the same
At least it's tied to reasonable objectives/goals, and not a bunch of BS like Musk.

The public company way: lower the bar, privatize the gains, syndicate the losses. Shame. Just lost all respect for RJ.

That's a huge pay package. I don't think anyone needs that amount of money.
I’m very pro-capitalism, but this is why I totally disagree with people who say they’ll pay a little more for this or that to help Rivian become profitable and survive. RJ should care more than anyone and he definitely isn’t cool with taking one for the team. And I’m not saying he should - few CEOs of publicly-traded companies would - so why should we? Like someone else said, I lost a lot of money on my Rivian shares too. That’s part of the game, and none of us get to hit the reset button.

I'm not even coming at it from that angle. Life has been pretty fortunate to me; I make a good living and have a really comfortable life. I make so much less than this, it's closer to nothing than this pay package. I think when we have people starving or who cannot afford healthcare in this country, we shouldn't have people with this sort of wealth. I'm pro capitalism too, but 100MM a year in compensation is so crazy high that you couldn't possibly need more. This package is way beyond that, and as a society, I'd rather more people had a higher standard of living instead of someone amassing such a vast amount of wealth.

I'm fine with billionaires as long as they earn it legitimately and pay a ton of taxes. That ain't happening and hasn't for a very long time. Thinking more on this, it's probably impossible for an individual to become a billionaire without gaming the system and huge tax breaks so I guess I'm not fine with billionaires

I would love to have a jet and a yacht but I'm not going to break laws and prey on the powerless to make that happen. I guess that's why one of my favorite songs is "Hungerstrike"

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
I have a hard time approving of anyone making billions of dollars.

However, as long as he doesn't turn into an outward sociopath, gets quality under control, and delivers good product, I'll stay a customer. That quality bit, though - oof.

What's wrong with the build quality? On our G2 Tri R1S they got the doors, quarter panels and hood alignment to about 85% of a Ford or Chevy on the 5th try

In all seriousness they better figure out how to have consistent panel/door alignment from the factory on R2. Us EV geeks/early adopters might put up with that shit but the average buyer won't.

I've said before that Rivian reads too many pages from Tesla's book. This week Rivian becomes another car company making a go at humanoid robots and now this.

Is a pivot to AI coming too once it becomes impossible to pump the stock by building and selling things?

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.

Agreed, and certainly not close to a trillion dollars. That’s beyond ridiculous. The only person who deserves to be given that much money is the person who finds a cure for cancer.

Even then, they could live like royalty on 100MM a year, and the rest can be used to make sure that cure is actually affordable for the rest of us. The only thing billions of dollars is good for is buying political influence. Our system works best with one person, one vote. Billionaires shortcut this by buying politicians.
