I'll bite since I'm a sucker for advertising.

This is fine, and we all know holidays can be crazy, but the undertone of "buy this luxury vehicle to escape the insanity of spending time with your family, and then actively drown them out with white noise and our new dynamic roof" isn't something that gets me overly excited about buying a new car.

Still looking forward to my R2!

I agree with your sentiment 100%.

Although I admit I used the "I have to go charge the car" excuse a few times while at my in-laws back in 2023. Taking a short drive and a walk during the chaos of Christmas was needed a few times.

Heh, it's fun. I've been a part of some crazy holiday gatherings in the past and an escape valve is nice.

Plus, it's still miles better than the Lexus & GM "Buy this super expensive car as a surprise gift for your partner that surely will not impact your combined finances!" ads that run around this time of year....

That hits home for me. Her only mistake was that she didn't keep driving after she left. She came back :CWL:

Honestly, made me laugh. My family is never that crazy as we all get along and there's no arguments or craziness or anything, but as an introvert, I feel that everyday at work and relate hard.

I usually love Rivian ads. This one misses the mark for me - mainly because Rivians are not quiet vehicles - not even my latest and greatest (for now) Gen 2 R1T Quad. It’s still noisier than I was hoping it would be, although my beloved and departed Gen 1 Quad R1T was very loud. My Gen 1 R1S’s are quieter than my Gen 1 R1T but certainly not quiet.

The fact that she needed to play a noise canceling track once inside the car is a little lame. Other car manufacturers are already making quiet vehicles with great sound insulation. I think this ad inadvertently highlights a Rivian weakness.

If you don't tell your partner, you're going out for a pack of smokes at least once a week. Are you even married??!

We tend to spend most holidays with my wifes family out of town. So that's 8 kids under 15, 10 adults, and lots of drama. It's still always a good time, but I can appreciate slipping away for some alone time, but in my case it would have been a beer or alcohol run. Cheers and Happy Holidays!

Totally agree, I was getting used to and lulled into thinking the R1T is a refined ride, then I started driving my other summer only car for a few weeks straight before it gets parked for the winter and was reminded how far apart the two are in overall luxury and NVH, the other car is 10 years old and blows it out of the water.

As long as I caveat it with it's a truck then all is fine as it is more luxurious, sportier and rides better than an equivalent midsize truck.

Have you checked the driveway in the last 20 years?

So did anyone notice the button she pushed on the menu to kill the lights on the house? I do this often using Alexa as a voice command for smart items in our house, but never pushed a button on that menu to do it and I see that is a placeholder in my menu.

I ask because I wonder if we just saw the new software with Gemini included?

It didn't kill the lights in her house.

It activated the opacity (frosted/disabled transparency) in the electrochromatic roof glass.
