We can use usb hubs so we're all good.Speaking of the Comma 4, does anyone know how that will impact Rivian users' ability to use the external Comma Compute, since it uses the same aux USB connection as the long harness? @gerrylum
Then why don't we use the hub and combine all CAN data for one cable to the Comma device? We can use usb hubs so we're all good.
Basically you're talking about two systems/ports - the OBD-C and the USB-C. You can use a USB hub on the USB-C (secondary) port, but not on the primary OBD-C port. Then why don't we use the hub and combine all CAN data for one cable to the Comma device?
I have 23 R1S. I tried and failed on the install. There wasn’t enough space for my hands to fit behind the big wiring bundle to slide the new harness in. I’ve heard the R1T is easier. Would love to find someone to install this for me as the current ADAS is not very good. What is the level of effort to install this, anyone have some directions I can reference?
Take it to any car audio installer and show them the install video and the install tips and tricks document. Any reputable car audio installer should be able to do it for a couple hundred bucks max.I have 23 R1S. I tried and failed on the install. If an audio installer isn't for you, I see you're in Sacramento, are you part of Rivian Clubs of America? If so, ask in the club as I know there's a couple there that would likely help. If you would consider driving to the Bay Area I know someone there that would help too.I have 23 R1S. I tried and failed on the install. Rivian shifted gears in the method path they were taking and the Gen 1 hardware wasn't meant for the where they decided to go. Rather than create both methods to support they made the decision to stop Gen 1 where it is.What am I missing? How is it that Comma can have all this self driving capability with a such a small device, while Rivian and other large companies struggle to create an equivalent product? And, why is Comma showing a 1-12 weeks delivery schedule? 1 to 12 weeks?! It all sounds very enticing, but…..
As Kaos mentioned, they JUST released a brand new product (the Comma 4). That being said, I expect them to get caught up on their shipping backlog much faster than 12 weeks. What am I missing? That's part of the beauty of the comma, doesn't need mapped roads like OEM, it works on any road, paved or not.Very tempting at this price (PayPal offer) and with the smaller form factor! I assume yes but just want to confirm - will this work if the existing Rivian driver+ doesn't work?
I have never seen the option pop up on screen to ever activate it since picking up my launch edition R1T in July this year. I'll have them fix it at some point before warranty expires next year (nearest SC is 2 hours away) but curious if this would work prior to the fix.
As has been stated many times, that would be virtually impossible for them to accomplish. It's just the nature of the CANBus system. They'd have to go back and make EXTENSIVE hardware changes to do something like block the Comma from communicating over CANbus. It's not something that can be done by a simple software update.I don't mean to poo-poo the idea of Comma, but I feel like Rivian could decide to end it with any software update. Which would be insanely unfortunate as a business model for Comma. Obviously I hope I'm wrong for the sake of all the Comma users.
