I say gen 1 owners (hold-outs?) should be given a one-time gen 1 exclusive update—to make gen 2 owners jealous—as reward for being early supporters of the company. And that exclusive feature should be option to turn on zombies in the driver display.

Why? Because our gen 1 cars are like the undead. And, I imagine zombie handshakes are wet... like the wet handshake some accuse Rivian of giving.

What do you think, @Wassym? ;)

Good lord. A bunch of drama queens aren’t we. No one is abandoning anything. But hey if you wanna hate, go ahead and get lost in your own delusional anxiety.

Meanwhile, the updates keep coming.

Has anyone discussed how

Universal Hands-Free steers, accelerates, and brakes your vehicle on roads with marked lanes, allowing you to let go of the steering wheel for extended periods, as long as you're looking at the road.
makes it sound like we won’t get this functionality without “hands free, eye monitoring”? Like it’s written as if the “hands on, eyes un-monitored” will not work anymore… which is a big bummer if so.
time will tell I guess.

Saving regen per drive mode was a suggestion I sent in. You really want all the coast you can get while off road.

When has this ever worked? It’s always been monitored.
If it is monitored, there are no warnings, so it acts like it is not monitoring. When I am touching the wheel, it does not matter where I look or how long I look there.

Once you turn off simulated braking you realize that with it on, its dragging its brakes way more than it should. Personally Im not a fan of the 4K brakes replacement so never bother with it.
For the record, I've left that off on my R1T and still had to replace the rear brakes at 34k miles. Reason being is the rotors start getting corrosion pitting if they aren't getting used, and that wears them out even quicker. Of course if you don't live somewhere they salt the roads for 6 months, you might not have that same problem.

What if you turn it on in the winter and off in the summer? Or maybe turn it for a couple of weeks every couple months...

What situations do you think need low/no regen? I've personally found regen amazing descending the mountain passes here, but what really doesn't work well is the brake-hold while negotiating a rocky descent (climbing is fine). So using Rock Crawl mode with the brake-hold off and firm suspension to prevent bottoming out when you come off rocks works well. TL;DR, there's no one mode to rule all off-road situations, so flexibility is good regardless.

exactly. I hope that still works lol
But I have a feeling they are closing on that “loophole”

Ah... I hated snow wheeling in my previous 4Runner. Can't imagine even trying without a winch in a 7000 lbs vehicle.

If you're talking on-road snow...I've personally found that regen improved quite a bit in snow mode since they first released it. It's possible it's less good without winter tires, but it hasn't been nearly as bad as that first winter with the truck.
