Scooter batteries are most usually deep cycle.

After a quick check, this one is deep cycle also.

Until the owner “base” changes and the R1 is more affordable to others, there will never be a big DIY group here or elsewhere. How many times per day do people ask stupid ass questions about condensation beneath the vehicle or what they should do about a ding or a dent?

If you really wanted, you could always get a standard size Deep Cycle Marine AGM battery and relocate the OEM leads so the battery would go (in a marine battery box $25) inside the frunk.

A standard size 100Ah Marine Deep Cycle AGM battery would probably last forever in the R1 vehicles.

Good to know the 12v reset works, as there were some posts stating otherwise but I think they were using ohmu batteries which might have been the issue.

As for more DIY stuff I have a few videos to make just can't find the time or will to edit and splice them all. Maybe one day I will get to it.

There is no guarantee, even with SLA batteries, that the reset will work. This is why Rivian says they'll support user-replaceable batteries s00n...

Battery is part of the safety system. In a crash, the frunk mount may shear off and cause loss of 12v power, much easier than the original mount.

I followed the ohmmu dual 12v swap video. It was a tight fit and I had to reorient the sensors on the negative 12v leads but it works.

Hard reset cleared all codes for me. Better than the $900ish rivian is asking. You’re welcome ☺

You're lucky, both of my 12V AGMs died completely and replacing them with new ones didn't help, the car won't start completely, resetting errors doesn't help, my car has been bricked since July...

Dude! That is six months! Where is your truck? Is Rivian Service unable to recover it?

I have a problem with 12V system because the car was shipped to Europe for long 3 months with dead batteries that were supplying 3-4V to the system (they didn't disconnect them)

That sucks.

I'm assuming you tried everything you could read from this forum and other internet sources, so I have no new advise for you :(

Hope you solve it, re-start it and be able to use it. If you do, please document it and share the process :)

Many people are curious about the performance of the HV battery, which has been at a 2% charge since May. How much is degradation due to improper storage.

The Rivian manual recommends a 50-70% charge level for storage.

That will definitely suffer from some degradation. Time will tell how much.
