Not positive about the dual motor but I think maybe all terrain mode has a very limited top speed.
yes, believe it’s 45mph for all models

Thrilled that everyone is getting sport mode, while not thrilled everyone is getting sport for free when the rest of us had to pay for it.

But I'll get over it quickly. In fact. Geo-fenced folding mirrors and quick control folding mirrors for everyone would cause me to completely forget any ill-will over sport mode......

Everyone getting sport mode is not the same as everyone getting the performance upgrade.

Is the sport mode for everyone just the button and associated suspension settings? It is not the extra HP, correct? Because I think I paid extra for that…

Amen. Everyone out here hoping for text messages and launch control...I'd settle for HVAC that doesn't go completely bananas, ignoring my fan speed setting and/or attempting to cook us alive despite being set to Auto 68F. Oh, and would be great if they can throw in automatic heated seats/steering wheel, like basically every luxury car (and even many mainstream brands) has had for the last 10 years.
Honestly, as a newer Rivian owner, of a Gen 1 R1S... I just assumed I am not smart enough to understand the HVAC system, and that the truck knows what's best. When it comes to adjusting any of the settings, you might as well stick me in the space shuttle and tell me to launch it.

I think the DM sport changes are a way to appease those of us pleading for real AP and Conserve modes on DMs. Currently we use Snow mode or AP w/ reduced stability in order to lock AWD. Both of which aren't great solutions.

So making sport go to standard ride height and make it more comfortable seems to be what they're hoping we use it for (daily driving), and use AP as a Conserve mode.

Not ideal unless Sport really is much more comfortable, but I guess it's better than nothing.

Never forget, it was 8 months ago Rivian was happy to show us Conserve on a DM. Never shipped. Hopefully no one bought a DM expecting that to be on the horizon.

Thanks! <puts the pitchfork down>
My guess is Sport for DM will keep all wheel drive active all the time, instead of disengaging the rear motors at steady speeds. At least that is what it does in my Tri.

And likely a much more aggressive throttle response.

Well, you also got a lot more power. The sport mode coming for free isn’t going to unlock any power, just more aggressive throttle mapping and AWD-lock im sure.

I'm stoked to get sport mode on my gen 1 R1T dual. Also thrilled that it'll work in standard so it doesn't rub on my aftermarket wheels and tires.

Am I the only thinking it will be a quicker 0 to 60 if throttle mapping changes? The not so immediate take off with current throttle mapping on my R1T feels as if it's holding it back.

Either way, I'm a happy gen 1 owner!

20mph.

I've had it bite me in the tail several times after being in AllTerrain mode to get through a snow covered parking lot, then trying to pull into a street without swapping back.

I think it's likely regulatory. If they changed the parameters of AP they would probably have to do updated EPA testing based on the updated parameters.

Instead of changing AP to be how it should and adding Conserve to be what AP currently is and fixing AP, they simply add Sport to be what people want and leave AP as is, avoiding regulatory oversight.

This is fine so long as they allow the driver to define the default drive mode. They do not. It always reverts back to all purpose.
