Yeah, this was a bit of nothingburger. All we really learned was hp/tq, 0-60, and 10-80% in 30min...of the launch model.Rugpull Rivian strikes again. Ugh...

a) Not the same as they moved the R2 charging port so you do not have to take up two stalls. No different than a '26 R1. If you want muskrat's member pricing still have to initiate the charge through the app. R2 will be the same.
Pretty helpful for the 400V charging systems out there. Many issues with 800V vehicles charging on 400V charging systems. Pros and Cons but when road tripping and wanting options then 400V is a better logical choice for performance if you are weighing pros and cons.We kind of knew this going in.. RJ has previously mentioned it on several interviews, it is what it is at this point. Possibly whatever comes after the R3 will be 800V?
Subjective: people with eyes like the rivian, blind people likeI know it’s all subjective and personal preference but I like the look of the R2 SO MUCH BETTER than the Model Y.
I think we need to be cautious about extrapolating from the range estimator in a pre-production prototype vehicle. That said, at least one journalist is reporting that rivian said the "launch edition" which has the AT wheels and the performance upgrade 0-60 is around 310 miles so that would be consistent with your estimate. The non-performance and performance R1S has the same range so I expect that to be identical but the RWD will likely be the range max version.MKBHD showed the range in his video. The car had 83% charge…my basic mathing indicates 3.1 miles per 1% of charge, or a 310 mile range for the Dual AWD launch edition. Right in line with the 306 mile range in the Model Y Performance that this launch edition seems aimed at In specs and pricing.
I have to assume they will launch a lower output dual motor later in the year that will get more range. Something directly comparable to the normal Model Y Long Range AWD.
From what I’ve been reading in other EVs and cars forum and facebook groups, there’re still a LOT of people who will absolutely NOT buy a Rivian because of those “ugly headlights”, which I love!Looks like the R2 will make the Model Y pointless if they can hit similar pricing. Will be no reason to buy that ugly junk once this is out.
The R2 has a much more capable autonomous hardware set than the Tesla HW4 or HW4.5. In fact it looks every bit as capable as the end-of-2027 HW5 system in terms of processing power and Rivian has a better sensor suite. Tesla is temporarily ahead on L2+ software but Rivian is already busy running billions of miles with the new sensor suite in the simulator. The game has changed.Looking online, the Tesla defense squad is in full panic knowing this will majorly impact model Y sales. Can't read a single Rivian article without the comments full from people with a tesla in their header screaming FSD FSD FSD.
Most people don't want their car crashing itself like FSD. It's why the take rate is so bad no matter what the TSLA defense force says.

Odds are this is with Perf upgrade. Specs are too close to Model Y Perf not to be.What I would really like to know if this is the Dual Motor AWD with Performance option. It having yellow accents, being a launch edition, and power suggests that it is. If this is 656hp, the base AWD Dual motor is probably a good bit less. A model Y Performance is 510hp I believe. This looks to be 200-300lb more
Can't wait to get clarification on it.
No, obviously, since I have an R1.First time following a reveal and production run from ANY car manufacturer? It's kinda EVERYONE'S thing.
It is getting very annoying. Like they’re already running out of good things to say about a Tesla besides FSD. Whenever someone come up with a new and promising EV, their only defense is “well, can it drive itself? No then it’s crap. Why would anyone still want to drive?”Looking online, the Tesla defense squad is in full panic knowing this will majorly impact model Y sales. And they ignore how many times they have to intervene to keep it from killing them.It is getting very annoying. Like they’re already running out of good things to say about a Tesla besides FSD. 10-80% is supposed to be under 30 minutes. 800V probably would only be a few percentage faster with their cooling setup. No 800V? WTF
