go drive it, then tell me how 90% of those charging stations don't work.

Glad you took the time to try to call me a liar, nitwit.

I thought the same thing. I get the real world drop depending on your tires and how fast you drive. I put 65,000 miles on my first gen 1 quad T and never had the software say less than 311 miles even though I drive in Illinois winters. I would check my battery capacity. Drive it to near zero and then level 2 charge to 100 and see how many electrons went in.

I will say both my Tri Motors are15 percent more efficient than my QM in conserve though. I had QM 20s which were terribly inefficient on Pirellis.

I'm down from 135kwh to 119kwh, they are wondering if there's a software problem versus actual loss, that's why they want the truck back to investigate, this is my 30th trip to the service center in 3 years, most of them are not serious issues, but 5 different times my parking sensors have failed in the front (well sensor, computer, wiring all that stuff has been replaced multiple times, front suspenion replaced 2 times, on and on and on....it's all good Rivian already compensated me very well for the hiccups, not complaining but I'm def the poster child any kind of product to have higher than usual issues, so I'm used to it, it's just my luck

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.
According to Doug Demuro the configurator comes out in March and the vehicle goes on sale in late Spring.

Still no word on the price of the launch model. Something tells me it will be high. I’m sticking with $55K-$60K.

March 12, all of the juicy details will be available. Soon!!!

So for the "base" are we expecting a watered down dual motor, or some sort of single motor option?

All the early reviews seem to indicate the LE dual is going to be an upcharge from the base (which isn't unexpected, given the need to prioritize margin)

It's single motor. Something they have mentioned since the reveal in 2024.

hmmm...the reviews seem promising and I can't wait to see the pricing.

I have an R1S and a 2022 Model Y and I could totally see replacing the Model Y with the R2.
I think it's pretty safe to assume low to high pricing spread similar to Model Y, with Launch Edition landing in the middle. My own speculation is they are withholding tri until gen 3 and LiDAR.

I drive this route routinely (Houston to Springdale with a Ran Stop on North Dallas). The choctaw crossing used to be super difficult on a smaller range car. I very nearly got stranded in my 2018 RWD Model 3. The Quad Rivian had some nerve-wracking moments a few years ago, and the 350 Gen 1.5 R1T gives a lot of peace of mind. That said, the new Tesla station in Henryetta make a big difference on cold days.

What is interesting is when I run R2 vs BMW ix3 on this route in ABRP, the R2 stops 4x and about an hour of charging while IX3 is two stops 30 minutes. Hmm... I like a lot about the R2, but 4-5 times a year I will be very grumpy.

Seems like a compelling product assuming they can keep it in the $45k-65k range considering this still has decent off roading capabilities unlike everything else in this space.
I was thinking the same thing. The off-roading capabilities are what sets it apart. They should do comparison videos of the R2 vs. vehicles in the same segment. Of course all of the YouTubers will take care of that.

Wow, I'm surprised the pop-out windows didn't make it. And it would have been peanuts to add a 120V somewhere in the passenger compartment too, that's a miss.

Does the frunk auto-close or is it just a gas-assisted open? No split tailgate either, which I love on my R1S.

The amount of bitching and moaning is hilarious. Full details aren't even released yet and people are already jumping off emotional cliffs.

I think you're confusing your terminology a bit. An NMC battery IS lithium ion. "Lithium Ion" is an umbrella term that covers many different battery chemistries, of which NMC is one. Perhaps you are thinking of LFP, which is the other chemistry that Rivian uses.

Ahhh crap!! My bad. You are correct. My apologies. Thanks for bringing that to my attenton.

I'm hoping $57,500 as spec'd to compete with Model Y AWD Perf.

Not a lot of new news, but good reviews are always good news.

FWIW this won't replace our Y as it's our pure commuter bought during the cheapo lease time period and as such is our extra vehicle for HS daughter. For the money it was unbeatable at the time and for the price of home charging to keep it running still unbeatable. I don't see the Y and R2 being cross shopped except that they're both EV's, but don't think of the Y as an SUV at all. Tesla's going t cause their own sales drop, no one else really needed for that.

The R2 will likely replace our Maverick our last extra commuter vehicle off at college with our oldest. R2 being Heavier, safer, with similar or better storage functionality.
