Is it possible to save Drive mode overrides?

What's worse is that these energy saving modes make the vehicles a lot worse to drive. Kicking you out of sport mode, re-enabling auto ride height, and forcing disconnection of the rear motor all suck.

I've mentioned this in a lot of threads about drive modes, but the quad's best undocumented feature is that they don't do this.

Interesting, thanks. I tested this today in my R1T and it definitely stays in the ride height setting until I change it. For years I kept it on the middle setting until there was complete reset by Rivian service to fix a cell modem connectivity issue. The service guy left it in Auto and for the past 6 months I've left it there so I don't have to think about it when I get on a highway.
Oh, it'll change back to auto. There is a delay, so you won't have to do it EVERY time, but I think it's like a 6-8 hr. reset.

A lot of people don't notice or care, and they're the majority. It's annoying to enthusiasts for sure, not arguing that.

That's wild and never knew that. I'd never get a dual because of the supposed disconnect thunk noise but I'd have to try it IRL to verify. The auto alone would definitely keep me from choosing that model but I'm in a Gen 1 even with 20's where it drives like crap in anything but standard.
I don’t understand this think noise people speak of on a dial. I have a 2026 dual max and it ever so gracefully goes between 2 and 4 wheel with no thunks on my vehicle. I watch it on the infotainment screen where there are 4 wheels engaged on pullout dropping to 2 wheel very quickly and if you were not watching the screen you would not know it even happened.

First gen auto start/stop was awful. Current ones aren’t as abrupt. At least based on the rentals/loaners I’ve had since ā€˜16.
I rented a 22’ Jeep in Florida a few years ago on vacation and it still sucked. But maybe that’s a jeep issue?

I've been saying pretty much the exact same thing for the two years I've had my 2023 Gen 1 R1T. Never noticed the engagement/disengagement.
