Rivian will likely always have to use contract manufacturers to make their chip designs. I don’t see how Rivian can generate enough volume to justify being more than a very small customer for a fab.I for one like seeing things like this, it is interesting to see where competitors are going. It also interested me since Rivian has been doing their own chip design and would not surprise me if at some point Rivian announces a joint venture with someone to start manufacturing those chips.
He didn’t personally do it and he may be motivated solely by the money but there’s no denying that it wouldn’t have happened without his drive, ambition and willingness to spend a whole lot of money. The cofounder title may have come from a lawsuit but it’s hard to debate it when he did provide 86% ($6.5m) of Tesla’s initial funding capital.I don't think you get it.... Because Elon Musk didn't do those things. The developers, engineers, machinists, and laborers did it. Elon Musk didn't start the modern EV era. He was an investor that insisted he be granted "co-founder" status then muscled out the actual founders.
He sure as hell didn't design or engineer the Merlin rocket engine that launches the Falcon 9 rockets (SpaceX's workhorse launch vehicle), it was actually Tom Mueller.
Elon is a sales/pitchman, much like Steve Jobs - who, compared to the harms that have come to the world via Elon Musk, was a damn saint.
We have no way of knowing how things might have turned out. Maybe some other investor would have stepped up and brought in the funding and leadership/salesman savvy that Elon did, but without the baggage that has arrived since (or maybe was always there). Hindsight can bite you in the ass (it has done so to me many, many times). He didn’t personally do it and he may be motivated solely by the money but there’s no denying that it wouldn’t have happened without his drive, ambition and willingness to spend a whole lot of money. Like the guy or not but this forum and the Rivian it’s based on wouldn’t be here without Tesla and Tesla wouldn’t have been successful without Elon.
Rivian owners are Rivian owners because they don’t like LeonHow is this Rivian related?? Isn't this Rivian Forum??
Btw, 9 women can have a baby in a moth, if they were impregnated 8 months before the announcement.
Perhaps they could contract with "Dr. Semiconductor" who built a Class 100 cleanroom in a backyard shed. He custom built a litho system using a microscope. I got a kick out of his 3D printed photoresist spin coater shielded with aluminum foil. Talk about dreams and ambition!I for one like seeing things like this, it is interesting to see where competitors are going. Seven seasons of Black Mirror and at least a hundred different movies isn't enough to tell y'all how this can turn out to be a bad idea?Musk said 80% of Terafab’s compute output would be directed toward space-based orbital AI satellites
And by the time all this stuff is in orbit and operational.. Bruce Willis isn't going to be around to save us! Game over manSeven seasons of Black Mirror and at least a hundred different movies isn't enough to tell y'all how this can turn out to be a bad idea?![]()
Not necessarily trueRivian owners are Rivian owners because they don’t like Leon
Even if Leon was a saint , I wouldn't buy anything from Tesla. I walked away from a Model S in 2017 because the product wasn't good enough for the price.Rivian owners are Rivian owners because they don’t like Leon
