I have not seen another thread on this so thought it was worth a post. Rivian called to ask us to bring in the 2025 R1S Tri for a preemptive service campaign to check for leaks in the HVAC system. They ended up keeping it for a 8 days and replacing the compressor. Not sure how widespread the issue is, but FYI. (I always appreciate them proactively fixing this sort of thing.) If I can find the service ticket I will post.

2025 Gen 2 R1T: Replaced the entire HVAC system (so they said) for an issue with the mechanisms that control the vents. Had to remove the entire dash. At least it fixed my dash rattle. :)

My 2025 R1S was just in the shop for warranty work (replace chrome trim pieces) on 3/24 and the SC reps didn't mention they would also like to do a preemptive inspection of the HVAC system for liquid leaks. They are usually good about these type of things. I was also scheduled to have the 15k service inspection performed on my 3/24 visit but we pushed that out following the new recommended service schedule. Maybe this is something they would have "inspected for" during that service. Hopefully this is one off and not something that will trigger a fleet wide recall.

Can you explain why it took 8 days? Were they just waiting on parts?

Thanks for the heads up.....

Funny story completely unrelated (well sort of....). Our 2009 Prius has had a dash rattle since day one. Shortly after getting the new Prius, we discovered a huge manufacturing quality issue once the winter rains started. It turns out during manufacturing they didn't properly seal the spot welded seams in the front firewall area where the various body panels came together. This resulted in massive water leaks directly into the passenger compartment (not good when you live in NW Oregon). The repair required gutting the entire interior, including removing the entire dash. Wouldn't you know it.... that rattle was still there after that repair. It's driven us nuts for 17 years! 🤦‍♂️
