Here's what XCare covers, under my contract:

Substitute Transportation: In the event of a covered Breakdown, We will pay or reimburse You for receipted expenses to rent a replacement vehicle (from a licensed rental agency) or for alternate public transportation while Your Vehicle is at a licensed repair facility.
Coverage will be provided to You on the following basis, up to a maximum of fifty ($50) dollars per day and a maximum of two hundred and fifty ($250) dollars for each repair visit.

Total Repair Costs and Maximum Rental Days:
$0 – $400: One Day Rental
$401 – $800: Two Day Rental
$801 – $1200: Three Day Rental
$1201 – $1600: Four Day Rental
$1,601+: Five Day Rental

Once you are out of warranty with Rivian, they are not obligated to provide a rental. Since I had another car at home, and I live only 4.5 miles away, they have been gracious enough to send me home in an Uber.

I was contacted by Rivian Care today after visiting with the service center. I am not eligible as I am not the original purchaser from Rivian. Now I know.
is your Rivian still under the original bumper to bumper warranty and they still denied you?

Yes, I am still under the original bumper to bumper warranty. Yes, they said I am not eligible.

Looking at getting extended warranty, is Xcare still the best option in everyone's opinion?

In my opinion, XCare has served me well. $0 deductible with 6 yr/100k mile extended warranty. Already had 3 extended warranty repairs in the first 9 months out of factory warranty. Out of pocket costs so far, would have been double what I paid for the EW.

Guess I should have known this, but there is a 30 day waiting period between when you purchase the warranty and when it kicks in. I'm about 19 miles from hitting 60k, so I'll have a brief window of crossing my fingers.

Also, my truck is scheduled to be towed to the SC after I started to receive a Service Suspension Soon warning. When it started I was at my camp, and between driving it home and then to the SC would have been over 60k. I initially scheduled at another service center closer to my camp, but they said even if they got it that it would be about 3 weeks before they could look at it. I asked about the warranty issue. He assured me that their policy was that as long as the issue was reported and logged prior to 60k, it would still be covered under the original warranty even if it was over by the time it arrived. He went out of his way to contact my usual SC slightly closer to my home to verify they followed the same policy, and they did, so he rescheduled my appointment with them.

Well my service suspension soon warning was fixed with 19 miles to go to the original warranty of 60k miles. They said it was a pump failure, and since that could cause metal shavings to accumulate in all the dampers, they replaced all 4 and did a complete system flush and fluid replacement with a new pump. I asked him to ballpark what the cost would have been without a warranty. His answer was $15-20k. o_O. Needless to say I'll never second guess choosing to purchase the xcare extended warranty. I would not drive this truck without one, and I plan on keeping it a long time.

Impeccable timing. If I hit 59k with my original suspension I'm planning to spend a weekend in my garage watching Youtube and continuously cycling from lowest to highest . Hopefully won't have to tack on any vacation days.

We bought one recently, just before hitting 50k miles, since the price did jump up quite a bit, even considering how much of the warranty we would be eligible for. We will be covered through 2034, so 12 years from purchase (and more miles than we will have hit).

We did end up with our second suspension repair right after purchasing, but still under factory warranty. Second replacement of the rear dampers and replacement of the front, along with the hydraulic system. 6-8k was the service advisor estimate. So that would have covered the warranty cost if we required it.

Brent was helpful with questions while going through the purchase. Hoping the claims are easy if required.

Anyone know if Xcare is still offering the 18mo financing? Would do it once I get my R1S if they are.

Unless you‘re getting a car that’s out of warranty, it makes sense to wait until Rivian’s warranty is near ending.

Only shows 12 online, so I wasn't sure if 18mo was still available by phone or something.
It was 12 months 0% interest when I signed up.
