Rivian Hardwired home charger Level 2 or Emporia?

Is it worth $375. more to buy the Rivian level 2 home charger? We have an Emporia hardwired for my wife's Genesis GV60. Works fine but No communication with the Genesis App. Are the few extra features using the Rivian integrated app worth it?

No. If anything get a Tesla wall connector.

Nope. Just use the emporia. That's what I have for our R1T & R1S and intend to just use it with an adapter with R2. In four years I have never needed the home charger to be connected to the Rivian app. Don't "need" a wifi enabled charger either. The emporia was the best buy and it just happened to have wifi.

Emporia, Grizzl-E, Chargepoint, Tesla, EVIQO. They all do the same thing and they're all under $500.

Agree with Tesla Wall Connector, which in my experience is MUCH better than Chargepoint Home Flex. The Rivian app can stop / schedule start time and show SOC progress, which suffices for my Level 2 charging at home.

Can you adjust charging speed (amps) and percentage charge from the Rivian app using the Tesla wall connector?

Yes, Rivian app has max charged % setting - I usually set at 80%. Also works with any charger including Level 3.

No, on charging speed (amps) though. At home I get 11kw or +/- 20 miles per hour. It's pretty standard - hardwired 60amp x 20% safety cushion = 48amp for Tesla wall connector.

I second use what you have. I use an Emporia at one place and an Emporia Pro at the other for my R1 and Tesla, plan on using it for the R2 as well.

There is no benefit to the Rivian EVSE. In fact if anything it’s worse since I can’t take advantage of my utility’s discount program.

I got it for free with my referral credits and wish I’d just bought a Wallbox or something else.
