It's the color combo I've always wanted, but the carfax worries me. Looks like a manufacturer buyback, even though it isn't noted as that. My "too good to be true" radar is going off.

A buyback would show up on the Carfax and result in a branded title. Looks like someone bought it, rarely drove it, and traded it on a Lexus.

Unless used Rivian prices have continued to stay elevated, the price seems a bit higher than I’d expect. But on spec, the truck looks good! I would have thought a 4 year car with less than one year Rivian warranty would be in the $55-60K range, even if low mileage.

If you do a search of this forum for that dealership, you will find a couple of threads with the owner participating in the conversation. He seems like an honest and good guy. I know nothing about him or the dealership other than what I’ve seen, but he seems to get good reviews and he is all in on the Rivian used market.

The listing looks very promising. I have a very early build R1S in that color combination and I love it. The Meridian sound is incredible.

Don’t be dissuaded until you do more digging around on both that truck and the dealership.

My only hesitation would be owning out of warranty. Definitely think long and hard on it.

This is a trusted dealer that knows Rivian well. I believe they have ~60 R1s in their inventory right now.

As always, please do your own research, but you can at least trust that you are buying from a good dealer. Wishing you the best of luck!

My local Rivian Service Center will look up the VIN and give me the service history, they are great guys. 6 months ago this would have been a $55-60k car, but all the used Rivians have gone up.

I’m waiting on my R2 VIN, but I keeping looking around and second guessing the R2.

Umm why? For about same $ you get better repairability, newer tech, better informed engineering, less complexity/better reliability, lower long term costs… just to name a few reasons to just wait.

FWIW, I HIGHLY recommend buying a preowned Rivian from @Lindsay VW of Dulles. The Preowed Sales Director, Steve, has extensive knowledge of Rivian (owns 2) and personally picks all their inventory to ensure only the best deals many of which are previous Rivian SC loaners and/or employee-owned vehicles which could very much be the case with this R1T. Also, he runs them all through the Richmond SC for any necessary repairs, warranty work, OTAs, etc. which you do NOT get from CarMax or any other dealer that I could find.

After totaling my 2023 R1S back in March, I did extensive research and Lindsay BY FAR is the best option in the mid-Atlantic at least but they even have buyers fly in from across the country since they may be the largest preowned Rivian dealer in the country outside of Rivian itself. At least they have the largest preowned Rivian inventory (usually 50-60+) of any dealer that I could find and sell about 2-3 per day on average!

FWIW, I'm VERY happy that I bought a 2022 R1T w/ 15k miles on it back in March especially seeing how the prices have risen for ALL used vehicles but esp. EVs since the gas crises which literally shot up the week I totaled my R1S. Honestly, I'm even happier with this preowned 2022 R1T than my original 2023 R1S!

See the details from my previous posts regarding my Lindsay VW buying experience but to summarize my recommendations, see below.

• pre-3/2023 build date (check photo on the website of the sticker on the driver's door
• still under OEM warranties (both bumper-to-bumper as well as HV battery pack)
• 12V outlets in the frunk and under dash unlike post-3/23 build date Rivians
• 110V outlet in the 2nd row unlike post-3/23 build date Rivians (at least not R1S)
• Meridian sound system unlike post-3/23 *premium* Rivian sound system which ALL suck!
• BUY the 5 year 100k mile JD Power extended warranty!
• ask Steve for the previous service history; if it's a Rivian loaner or employee-owned he may have it; if he doesn't have it, ask him to ask Rivian at least for a verbal list of previous work done

VERY frequently he jumps in and super inflates the bids. He’s not just going for auction house purchases that are restricted to only dealerships. He’s cornering the market on pre-owned Rivians, has to cover costs for the 5% commission, and transportation costs since he bids on Rivians around the U.S. MANY non-dealer bidders complain about him taking all the fun out of bidding as well as the opportunity to purchase a Rivian on the site without incurring dealer fees on top of bid site fees.

In all fairness I have to add that I’ve spoken with Steve on the phone when I was looking at Rivians on his lot last fall and I was also tracking from the Dulles area to way out eastern Long Island, Richmond, and finally flew to Birmingham to pick up my R1T. I also considered multiple trucks in AZ, CO, and CA. Steve was very polite and certainly knows a lot about Rivians and advocates for the brand and EVs in general. Just know that you’re also paying for at least some of the auto auction fees and associated expenses. While his approach on Cars and Bids is good for the sellers, it likely adds cost for the eventual buyers and it adds to the inflation of EV prices writ large.

Like I said, he seeks out the *best* preowned Rivians in the country to resell from his dealership.

Let's just say, as a MD resident where we can't buy preowned Rivians from Rivian directly, my search for a preowned 2022 R1T was in the MD/NoVA/DC/DE/Central-Eastern PA area, so I would never have found the R1T that Lindsay sold me which was from NY, so I consider Steve's due diligence to hand-pick the best available preowned Rivians a MAJOR plus!

If I recall correctly you'll need to show up in person to sign all paperwork. They have a no-e-filing policy that unfortunately was a deal breaker for me when I was shopping for used R1Ts.
