Last Saturday was a new moon and I had some new lenses I wanted to test out. So we hopped in the truck and drove up to RMNP for some astro photography. Before heading to the top of Trail Ridge rd, I got some great shots of bull Elk. It’s rutting season so they’re out strutting their stuff. Afterwards we went to the top of Trail Ridge (highest road in the part) hoping to get a shot of a comet that was supposed to be visible during sunset. That was a failure but I got some good shots obove the clouds. Then down to the lower areas to get some shots of the Milky Way…
The trip in the R1T was Effortless.
I left the house, In Erie, with 89% SoC. It’s 69 miles to the Alpine Visitor Center at the top of RMNP. I think I had 59% SoC when I got there because it was all uphill and I wasn’t going easy on the accelerator. I returned home with something around 40%, mostly because it was all down hill back home and I was going slower due to it being pitch black dark.
