Is this a new feature of Full Autonomy to drive itself on or "off" the lift. Not seeing any pics of this actual truck off the lift, I had to resort to generating my own. I used GROK and it did a hodgepodge of the Cybertruck and the R1T. LOL.

AI spew is ruining forums and other online media. The use of a car as a rental limits the warranty coverage, no?
I don't think it messes with the warranty, but I know it's forbidden in my lease. Likely my insurance as well (haven't read that one quite as deeply). I wouldn't be surprised if the warranty has a carve out for "exrteme use" or something like that.

How often does it happen? I want to be surprised.
Honestly, almost never. Most people, including myself, who have worked on cars professionally have never actually witnessed a vehicle fall off a lift. I've only seen it happen in pictures/videos online, never once in real life. But never once in any shop that I've worked. The level of incompetence necessary to lift a vehicle and have it fall off a lift is crazy.

I'm on Rivian's side here. It's a crappy situation for sure, but at the end of the day the vehicle was badly damaged and insurance is going to pay out roughly the value of the vehicle, not the value of a brand new replacement. I remember in 2019 my 2-year-old Jeep was rear ended and totaled while I was stopped at a light. No fault of my own. Insurance paid replacement value for a similarity equipped, similar mileage, same model year Grand Cherokee. I chose to take that money and buy a brand new one instead, identical to my damaged one, but two years newer. It cost me $8,000 out of pocket. That's how insurance works. It shouldn't be any different just because the damage happened at a Rivian service center.

I think Rivian should be held to a higher standard in this situation since they basically make it impossible to have service performed elsewhere, but OP is simply asking for way too much.

So not only did you want a totally new vehicle, you wanted an upgrade as well based on theoretical range?

Rivian could probably have clarified the used section of inventory, but they honestly shouldn't have had to.
