640k of RAM is enough for anyone. If PCs can already create documents, why are they working on a 286 chip?If HW4 was enough to achieve full autonomy, why are they working on HW5 and HW6 already?

So because he believes in his own BS, he gets a pass? If he were just some rando, you would have a point. But he is the head of the company telling stock holders and paying customers the same BS over and over. At some point there needs to be some kind of accountability even if he believes what he is saying. Someone in his position should be able to recognize that "I keep saying X but reality keeps being Y" and make an adjustment. No, he absolutely did not say that. Now, I’ve consistently called Elmo a lying weasel and untrustworthy, but also, that he believes his own bullshit. He’s also an eternal optimist which is good and bad. We wouldn’t have an amazing global communication system if he didn’t blindly believe it could happen while everyone said it was impossible.
Anyway, it’s probable that he was just wrong and overly optimistic. Remember Rivian promised Gen 1 self driving too.
Did he say that the upgrade would be freeArticle
During Wednesday’s earnings call, the mercurial CEO put it as bluntly as ever.
“Unfortunately, Hardware 3 — I wish it were otherwise — but Hardware 3 simply does not have the capability to achieve unsupervised FSD,” he said, saying that its “memory bandwidth” is the “chokepoint.”
...
Musk explained during this week’s call that Tesla is now looking into constructing “microfactories” in cities to retrofit HW3 vehicles with a new computer and camera system.
So he's an engineering genius and understand all the problems involved in populating Mars. And with that knowledge and intellect he genuinely believes he can make this happen in the time frame he has stated. No, he absolutely did not say that. Yes, it has to be free for everyone who's already paid for FSD. Typically they've offered the same upgrade as a paid charge to anyone who hasn't paid for FSD.Did he say that the upgrade would be free
You mean Twitter? We wouldn’t have an amazing global communication system if he didn’t blindly believe it could happen while everyone said it was impossible.
No, please re-read my post as written without adding your own words. The rest of your post is based on misreading what I said. Maybe purposely, dunno. So because he believes in his own BS, he gets a pass?
Don’t hold your breath that Tesla is retrofitting…At least they are retrofitting. When is Rivian going to offer a retrofit for my LE R1T to use the UHF?
Singularity…The robots can't take over until they reach sentience.
Heck, he believed HW2 could do it.I'm sure he believed (esp. at first) that HW3 could get to FSD.
I'm sure he was plainly aware that there was a very high possibility that he was wrong, and as time went on he knew the chances of HW3 being sufficient were slim-to-none.
I'm sure that despite this, he decided it was important to continue to say that HW3 was powerful enough.
I'm sure he'll somehow get away with it this time, as he has since 2016.
I think we can apply standard legal language here:No, he absolutely did not say that. Now, I’ve consistently called Elmo a lying weasel and untrustworthy, but also, that he believes his own bullshit. FSD was always coming soon. Written disclaimer was always for a driver to pay attention.I think we can apply standard legal language here:
If he knew but kept pretending it was fine then it is fraud. If he ought to have known and kept saying otherwise it is negligence. So what did he know and when did he know it ... and when do I get my $5k back for faulty fsd hardware that led to a zero resale value bump?
