As someone who lives in rural NY, this shows why I really want an R2. I have so many little truck trails and dirt roads that my dog goes ecstatic for rides in the Cayenne on, but since its engine is currently getting rebuilt, I need a new SUV for occasional off-roading.


For me, the EX60 Cross Country would be the only logical competitor to the R2.

Yes, there are going to be a lot of new owners that venture off the road just a bit because they now have an R2 but normally probably wouldn't even think about it. I remember many trying this when the Model Y came out with an off road assist traction control mode...and quickly realized how that vehicle is not meant for anything but pavement .

Our Model Y on FSD took us down a very bad dirt road in the middle of nowhere FL that was completely unmanaged. Ditches, branches, glass and rocks everywhere. I took over and went 5-10 mph for what felt like an eternity (it was in reality on 1.5 miles). Lesson learned the hard way. Legitimately terrifying experience. Made me actually yearn to own a Rivian again. My R1 would not have been bothered. As much as I joke about these vehicles never really seeing anything offroad, when the moments does come, you are very grateful for it.

Same here, It will be June before we know it and still have not test drive.

I don't own a R1S for priority in line, but I reserve within minutes of reservation opening and I live close to Normal, IL. I will be willing to go to Normal to pick up if means getting sooner.

They just opened a new service center near me in upstate NY. I'm convinced this makes me a little higher priority so they can get some market penetration in the area. And you can't convince me otherwise lol

The one I'd be going to is also upstate in Rochester.
(Anything north of the flat bottom border with PA is upstate imo)

Really looking forward to a test drive! Why the hating of the Model Y? Mine does awesome on the snow/ice/mud. I will admit the Performance model does have some clearance issues but I forget about those past 112 mph. The R2 is supposed to be capped at 130. Us Gen1r's need a software upgrade.

I sure hope you're on a track at those speeds. No one needs to go over a 100 mph on public roads, I knew someone who was killed by a driver going way too fast. The number one cause of traffic fatalities is speed.

And, like the R2, the date of the first actual customer deliveries of the EX60 Cross Country are not fixed or guaranteed. My friend just bought another car not wanting to wait till 2027?? 2028??
