  1. Windshield seal

I know there has been a ton of discussion around Rivian weak glass and windshields breaking. I’m curious if anyone has had problems with the windshield being set / sealed properly. On our most recent repair visit they checked around the windshield and told us it wasn’t set properly. We hadn’t...
  2. Is the Model X now a better buy over R1S? (WARNING: NO ELON MUSK DISCUSSIONS)

Seriously considering a Model X plaid at $89k…. Plaid includes 6 seats with captain chairs standard.
  3. List your Rivian (Enterprise) provided loaner car during service

Our R1S is in for its 5th service/fix at the service center. As usual Rivian didn’t have any loaners. When we showed up to Enterprise we were surprised to see 3 Rivian R1S on the lot as rental vehicles! We asked to get one of those and they said “those aren’t covered by Rivian, we’d be happy to...
  4. Tire costs, about what Gas costs per mile.

I briefly scanned this thread. So apologies if I missed something, but is it true there are no good 22” replacement tires? Our R1S has 14,500 miles on it and already needs new tires. Really disappointed. Americas tire is quoting $2,500 to replace them. Not only is this a lot of money but...
  5. R1S Window Trim Peeling

Has anyone else had any trouble with the exterior trim around the windows peeling? Our R1S is 7 months old with 10,000 miles on it. And the trim around the rear window is starting to peel off the car. We live in coastal California with temperate weather.
  6. Top 5 Reasons Switching to a Tesla Dominated NACS Standard is a Colossal Mistake for the Consumer

This entire thread makes me want to go back to a gas powered car altogether. ???‍♂️
  7. Texas WTB Pre-Price Hike R1T Preorder

No. We swapped our pre-order. They allowed it as of December 2022.
  8. Texas WTB Pre-Price Hike R1T Preorder

Rivian changed their rules. They used to allow pre-order transfers but no longer allow them. If they see a name change on the order they will cancel it. Not sure when this change took place. https://rivian.com/legal/preorder
  9. Count Orlok just ordered his Lightning... R1T in limbo

We need the 3 rows. Will be swapping to a Lexus TX550h+ once they come out.
  10. Which upcoming vehicles are you most excited to see?

We will see how efficient the yet to be detailed hybrid option is. I’m expecting more HP comparable torque and mid to low 20s mpg.
  11. Which upcoming vehicles are you most excited to see?

Very excited about the Lexus announcements today. New GX and plug-in hybrid TX!!… The TX 550h+ will be our next vehicle as soon as they are available. https://www.motortrend.com/news/2024-lexus-tx-three-row-luxury-suv-first-look-review/...
  12. Our R1S keeps having problems - now the rear wiper

I always thought Rivian should have installed the wiper up under the spoiler as is common on several other vehicles. Gives the rear window a cleaner look…. Looks like your R1S agrees.
  13. Current Rivian owners - What’s one change that would make you happier?

An R1S with the R1T wheelbase… meaning: - smoother drive - more space behind 3rd row - easier to access 3rd row - more 2nd and 3rd row space.
  14. Loud AC motor

Here is the thread on this. Same with our R1S. Very loud. https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/ac-issues.14985/
  15. R1S heated rear seats

Only outboard middle seats are heated. Not the middle seat and not the 3rd row. But the 3rd row does have vents in the pillars.
  16. AC Issues

Our R1S makes the same sound with the A/C when just starting up and after a long drive. It’s not consistent all the time. But often enough. Very loud!
  17. Count Orlok just ordered his Lightning... R1T in limbo

That’s super interesting. I would say the same but in reverse. Loved the way the Y drove on our local roads and the R1S drives us crazy.
  18. Count Orlok just ordered his Lightning... R1T in limbo

Is your Y pre or post the latest suspension change? Which “model year”?
  19. Count Orlok just ordered his Lightning... R1T in limbo

Just tested a 2023 Model Y performance last weekend (considering purchasing one in the next few weeks). The model Y was refreshingly smooth in comparison to our R1S. If we end up with both I’ll likely use the Y as the daily driver.
  20. Count Orlok just ordered his Lightning... R1T in limbo

Hearing the word “smooth” in the same sentence as Rivian makes me jealous. Every day I get into the R1S wanting to love it. It has power, it’s comfortable, it handles well. But the last thing it is is smooth. It’s dare I say harsh over anything but freshly paved road. We bounce and rattle just...
