It's just a fact of the landscape we live in. No manufacturer controls 100% of their tech stack. Whether it's map data from Google or Mapbox, vehicle connectivity through cellular carriers, or cloud processing via AWS or Azure, there are always third-party partnerships involved. These external...
Yes, you won't be able to use OP Long with the UI buttons in Sunnypilot master branches. The UI button forks are an evolutionary dead-end and Lukas won't be supporting/updating them anymore. He is keeping them up and available to download for anyone who wants to try them out.
And, they are...
Many errors that would not clear even after a reset. My thinking is it was a bad harness. Errors went away immediately after just disconnecting the harness - not even reconnecting the AXM. Bizarre behavior that I have not seen before.
Simple answer is that when using the basic Comma setup (harness only), the ONLY thing the Comma 3X controls is auto-steering.
Everything else is controlled with the default Rivian systems.
Indeed. It's not currently compatible with Gen 2 simply because there hasn't yet been any work put in to port OP over to it. I'll bet once Rivian starts charging a subscription fee for RAP+ that there will be some more interest in doing so.
That being said, if you have a Gen 2 and are willing...
That's a misunderstanding, unfortunately. If you want to use Openpilot's Longitudinal abiltiies, the upgrade kit is a necessary additional piece no matter if you have the Comma harness or Lukas' harness. Otherwise you will be reliant on Rivian's ACC for longitudinal control.
IMO, the fusetap is the better option for power. The fusebox is right in the passenger footwell also so you don't have to run a long wire from the OBD-II port. And it keeps the OBD-II port free.
That's awesome! Keep in mind that Lukas has removed the power connection on his harness so an external power source will be required either with an OBD-II Comma Power connection or his fuse tap.
It really is much simpler than all the videos and discord commentary make it seem. The hardest part is getting into the footwell and connecting the harness. Even then it's not TECHNICALLY difficult - it's PHYSICALLY difficult.
After that, it's just a matter of pressing a few buttons to get...
Not only was he responsible for porting OP to the Rivian, he was the one who created the harness design that Comma is using and he is the one who is primarily driving continual development for the Rivian. Let's just say without Lukas none of this would be possible.
I'm not saying you have to...
Curious about the Comma 3X and Openpilot? You can also check out my video about the recent version 0.9.9 update and the current state of Openpilot on the Rivian then get yours during the 4th of July sale for $799!
It is amazing how much of a difference a better tire makes, isn't it! It doesn't seem like it should matter that much, but the data seems to indicate otherwise.
Now if we can find a way to get angle-based steering to work it'll be even better!
I am working on a website kind of like Rivian...
I probably not uncommon to train driving models using lower FPS just for the sake of basic compute efficiency. It's just not necessary to train with higher FPS so why waste the compute?
I know Comma trains their models on their MLSIM reprojective simulator at 5fps, even though the models run...
