  1. Is Gen2 worth $30k to $40k difference over Gen 1

In absolute terms? I don't think so. I had my Gen2 in the shop for a week and had a Gen1 loaner. After getting used to the fuzzier cameras and the fact that the drive stalk doesn't pull toward you for the Driver+ feature, I felt the ownership/driving experience is really 95% identical. Which is...
  2. Gen2 Quad

Yeah, I think that's right. On the configurator, it says the Quad will have 22" sport dark, 20" all terrain dark, and 22" super sport (which are the staggered ones). Come to think of it, I don't actually know how staggered wheel setups work, in the sense of what you need in order to support...
  3. Gen2 Quad

I was told by a Rivian delivery specialist (dunno how much they actually know, of course) that the staggered wheels/tires will be an add-on option.
  4. Gen2 Quad

I'm not sure I understand the towing downside, can you explain? I'm envisioning a standard EA/Supercharger stall. Regardless of whether it's pull-in or back-in, you still have to detach the trailer so it's not blocking the entire street, right? And if there's a pull-through towing spot, it...
  5. Bugs in the latest firmware (2025.14.30)

I just discovered I can't connect to Gear Guard Live Cams anymore. Need to try a reboot first.
  6. Mystery parts falling off my truck (kind of)

Yeah, all 4 of the jack point covers are safely tucked away in my garage (removed all my areo covers when installing running boards).
  7. Mystery parts falling off my truck (kind of)

Anyone know what these are? 1. Black plastic cover. Looks exactly like the ones that cover the screws/bolts in the bed (the front has the same bed liner texture), but I don't see any that are missing. Found it on my driveway next to the truck. 2. Red clip/metal thing: Found inside the spare...
  8. Gen2 Quad

All things being equal, $115,900 is pretty darned reasonable, considering the Tri starts at $99,900.
  9. Picked up a spare tire. Now what??

Not your fault! The listing clearly says 22mm, multiple times! I guess part of the reason why Amazon has such a permissive return policy.
  10. Picked up a spare tire. Now what??

Yeah, went with a Rigor non-marring 22mm socket instead. I have a breaker and torque wrench but they don't fit easily with the spare, so I'm giving this max power 1/2" drive wrench a try. The customer photos suggest it's much higher quality than the folding one.
  11. Picked up a spare tire. Now what??

Quick word of warning: I got this off Amazon, and the product description lists the wrong size. It says it has a 22mm socket, but when I received it, it doesn't. Glad Amazon has a relatively painless return policy.
  12. 2026 EPA Homologation documents have landed; NACS, No Quad Yet

As long as NACS and CCS co-exist, you'll always been in a situation where you may need an adapter. I care less about what is native on the car (if there's something, it's the convenience factor of home charging without an adapter for someone who has two TVs at home), and more about where the...
  13. Picked up a spare tire. Now what??

I got the 4x jack pucks kit. I think you can stack them (seems a bit precarious but doable in a pinch) and will also add a plank for a base plate.
  14. 2026 Hummer EV will have 1,160 hp

Don't get me wrong, I don't need the quad. My point that Rivian needs to get on with their existing roadmap. They've already committed to a high-HP performance quad Gen2 and have yet to get it out the door, they should finish that up, get it to customers who want it, and then really focus on...
  15. 2026 Hummer EV will have 1,160 hp

Honestly, no need for more HP, I hope Rivian doesn't end up chasing that dragon. Just get the quad motor Gen2 out already!
  16. Picked up a spare tire. Now what??

...and boy are my arms "tire"!
  17. Picked up a spare tire. Now what??

I just bought a single OEM wheel/tire from someone who presumably upgraded their vehicle to different shoes :) So no kit to speak of. Truth be told, I didn't really think through (oh, I'll need a jack, I'll need a breaker bar with socket, I'll need xyz) at the time.
  18. Picked up a spare tire. Now what??

I got a full-sized spare off the local marketplace. I've removed the "enclosure divider"and plopped the spare under the bed. But there's nothing securing it in place. For those who have gone the jerry-rigged spare route, what else is needed? Does Rivian sell a kit? I'm thinking: 1. What can...
  19. Rivian Home Charger or Tesla universal?

Either will do "full speed" 48amp charging (60amp breaker) for about 11kW. I was a big fan of the Tesla Universal, particularly for dual Tesla/non-Tesla households, but without getting into politics, I'm not super-interested in giving Tesla any more money. Almost any EVSE you buy will be able...
  20. First time charging woes

I had a 200mi trip coming up and needed to charge beforehand. Found an EVGo charger at a Whole Foods with 4 stalls in the in-car Maps nav, but when I got there, it turns out ALL 4 CCS chargers were broken. My god. Luckily there was an EA charger a few miles away, and that worked fine. After the...
