  1. Driving in the snow with my OEM 22s

The best kind. Disable traction/stability control and get after. Hell, they'll do it in the rain if you're brave enough :D Here's a Typhoon doing them in the dry. One of the first 500+ ft-lb SUV's with AWD. Haven't tried this in the Rivian yet. When I'm closer to the lease being up I'll get...
  2. Rival Tesla Model X to end production

I've integrated a robotic weld cell, so I know of these things. The only hiccup in this plan (in my opinion) is putting human safety in the hands of software and not hardware designs. Software can be changed/overwritten and/or edge case buggy. Same premise as keeping crumple zones even with...
  3. Rival Tesla Model X to end production

I understand, and agree. Just hope he spins the AI chip and autonomy out separate from Rivian (there's a market for this if he can make it modular), and doesn't make it a core ethos of company.
  4. Rival Tesla Model X to end production

I might've gonna go with Tamagochi instead of Furby there, but I'm with ya. With that said, I did have my drinks delivered to me at a restaurant last night, by a robot. Cute little yellow thing that essentially amounted to a couple of shelves on some wheels with a set of "eyes" displayed on...
  5. Rival Tesla Model X to end production

Another tech company that started in cars, moving away from vehicles and into more tech. We're going to be left with nothing but legacy automakers making EV's here soon. Honestly Xiaomi is looking stronger and stronger, as they're a tech manufacturer that has diversified into the automaker...
  6. PaaK just stopped working - quick fixes?

Mine does this about every 10 days after the latest update. Which beats the every 10th try before, so at least a move in the right direction. Typically, for me, it's a series of turning off bluetooth on the truck and the phone. Hard reseting the truck, and restarting the phone, then turning on...
  7. 20" Inch Best 20" Tire for Max Efficiency (R1S): On-Road with Occasional Snow Driving

Buffalo resident here. I have the Goodyears on my truck. It's in service, and the Rochester SC gave me a loaner with Pirelli AT's. Literally drove them back to back in a lake effect snow event. I would give the edge to the to the Pirellis in total traction. The Goodyears are still quite good...
  8. 20" Inch Best 20" Tire for Max Efficiency (R1S): On-Road with Occasional Snow Driving

I got a slight bump when I moved from the OEM Pirelli AT's to the OEM Goodyear AT's. Not much, but it certainly wasn't any worse than before. OEM Pirellis are better in the snow IMO. they're also 1.1in taller than the goodyears, if that's important to you. The Goodyears are much quieter on dry...
  9. Trading R1T for a Cadillac Lyriq?

I have the same read on legacy automakers with EV's. I've worked through warranty issues with Ford and Audi in the past, and they're not even in the same ballpark as Rivian in terms of handling issues. Hell, they might not even be on the same planet the difference is so large.
  10. Bad Drive Unit, 9th time for service. This makes EV's look bad.

Mine has been in 12 times in 16mo of ownership. It's 50% "new tech" issues, and 50% "new builder" issues. I agree with @jwanderson88 that it's agitating as hell with a '17 model Camry has more predictable behavior than a '23 R1T. While I agree that it's not just an EV thing, I also agree that...
  11. How long do you plan to keep your current Rivian?

Just means leasing was the right move there. Mine is the same way. Residual is in the is $44.7k on a '24 Dual Motor/Large pack with a few options. I've got 20mo left on mine, and I could go buy a quad motor '24 with the same options for about that price. Leasing was definitely the way to go.
  12. How long do you plan to keep your current Rivian?

Uh.....How did you open only a single door handle?
  13. How long do you plan to keep your current Rivian?

I didn't know Hawaii had Turkeys. Also, 25k miles a year on an island is impressive.
  14. How long do you plan to keep your current Rivian?

Lease is up Sept '27. Not a day longer than I have to. After being in 4-5 different trucks now for varying lengths of time, I'm convinced Rivian is still a boutique brand for early adopters. Production numbers aren't high enough to truly iron out quality issues, and each vehicle has something...
  15. Turn off driver display onscreen ads?

Yeap, it's a clever (but crappy) implementation of live RDS data changes. My Sierra and my Q7 both did the same thing. Complain to the radio station is about the only thing you can do, but I doubt it helps.
  16. Help Identifying the Suspension Clunk?

I've had air adjustable suspension on multiple vehicles. This is the first one with 7in of travel, but the one before this had 4in of travel and was dead quiet. Beyond that, I've had all 4 airsprings on my truck replaced with "updated versions" and it still sounds like a busted haywagon. It's...
  17. Help Identifying the Suspension Clunk?

My '24 R1T does that too. Has since the day I bought it. It was built in Feb of '24 and delivered in Sept of '24. Has a welded subframe (which I've heard cures a lot of this crap rattle stuff when replaced with the newer cast unit) Rivian continues to say "That's normal" and "All of these...
  18. Gen1 Quad - New Mode Requested: Dual Motor

Dual Motor owner here; and I agree. I prefer the "full locked" AWD setup for daily driving. Road trips I'll take the "conserve" approach. I spend a lot of my time daily driving with the stability control set to reduced to force the rear motors engaged. Heavy expressway traffic in general is...
