Seems like they are rolling out the same prototypes everywhere so it's a lot of shipping around. All the production cars are probably going to employees. Might be holding off till June/July for the for the one's that go out for test drives at Spaces?
So probably in a future phase 2 expansion of Georgia with their own money after the first phase build out for R2 and R3. I'm guessing future variants with that timeline are for 2030.
You just have to look at the interior of the BMW and it shows a bit more legacy in UI. R2 looks to be the right sweet spot. Not as draconian removing everything like Tesla, but not way overboard.
If the halo wheels end up being reliable, then that could really solidify everything along with...
You may want to elaborate which aspects you didn't like as that's pretty vague.
To me, it seems like an improvement in interior quality over the equivalent EVs like the Model Y. Not sure yet how it stacks up against the BMW iX3 for interior, but R2 likely has the edge on tech and UI. So...
This is likely just pre-planning for a second shift to start later in the year. But yeah, you want to plan ahead of time to add shifts as you get all the workforce and suppliers ramping up. I think even a third shift is being planned for 2027.
This is normal. Everything seems to be on...
Very much agree. Most people should go hardwired due to the unevenness in the quality of installs and improper selection of the outlets. You might not find the issue until 5 or 10 or 20 years down the road.
In a recent video, Tom at State of Charge is noticing these poor install problems...

Rivian has said that even Gen 2 vehicles will get upcoming software updates that significantly advance capability this year and next. So an advanced Level 2 and even some version of Level 3 seems like a possibility.
The only thing they've talked about with LiDAR with the initial launch is...

You would be wrong. Technically Rivian calls it an "an elevated version of the Gen 2 architecture" at R2 launch with Dual mode radar and the 65MP cameras. This is 4 month old news.
I don't think there are grab handles, but I also think people who are worried about it should check these cars in person. Get in and out of the front/back seats to figure out whether that's ok or not.
There's no substitute besides testing it with the person you are worried about with...
Your Saturday experience was more busy at Old Orchard because people started figuring that was the only working Rivian Space that was doing this event smoothly on both days. Plus easier parking. Chicago on the other hand was to some degree broken on both days due to 1 car and got way way worse...
People need to look on Reddit for all the threads. The Chicago event was practically a disaster with having only 1 car available while the Old Orchard event with 2 cars went VERY smoothly with a many many happy people. Rivian definitely needs to do better when two events happening at the...
