If I understand you correctly that was not my experience. My pre-order was for an S. When they first gave me access to the R1S Shop there was only one S, and maybe 15 Ts. I just kept checking (multiple times daily cuz I was so anxious), and the numbers of R1Ts and R1Ss would change almost...
You are correct that instantaneous trip would not generally be a consideration in OP’s case. I should not have brought that up.
However, I still disagree with your “42-45 amps”. Yes, it might trip at those currents, but it also might go on forever without tripping at those levels. Actually, a...
Agree 100% except for “until 42-45 amps”. There are a number of variables to consider when predicting when a circuit breaker will trip, and that is after discounting mfg. tolerance.
I have tested 15 A. breakers that required 76 A. for “instantaneous” trip, and they were functioning properly.
Respectfully speaking, the 80% that everyone talks about is a code requirement. Nothing against you as no one person can be knowledgeable in everything. I am certain you could find my knowledge lacking in your field of expertise.
Circuit breakers don’t trip at 80% of their rating. I charge...
Should not be a problem Notice that the “donut” spare Rivian sells for the R1S is a T195/70-20 with a 30” OD which is smaller than all the OE tires.
I don't know if those will work or not.
Although I bought my sensors thru a different source these https://www.amazon.com/Main-Resource-17-43042-Sensor-Clamp/dp/B07BSR35XJ are the same, and they work in my R1S.
Discount Tire installed them in my new wheels when they swapped my tires. I...
My R1S on 20" AT tires (12/32" tread left) is always traveling 1 mph slower than the speed displayed on the driver's display (e.g. actual speed 59 mph when vehicle display shows 60 mph). This is true at all speeds.
I measured this with a device that has a 25 Hz GPS which the mfg. says is...
Yes, and that's fine!
FWIW, in the military you (and I) did not have to do that multiple times per day, 5 or 6 days a week, and for 30 years as I did on my job. So the habit was more strongly reinforced in me, and humans are all "creatures of habit" whether we like it or not.?
Obviously, you have never heard of "Circle for safety".
On the company vehicles I drove was a magnetic patch with "Circle for safety" on the driver's door. Drivers were required to walk completely around the vehicle checking it over before driving it in order to insure everything was okay on...
If there is a "hard short in the 230 v wiring to the wall connector" the breaker will trip whether or not one is charging. The key word being "to" meaning "ahead of" the level 2 charger.
Now if you mean a short within the level 2 charger itself then you may be correct. Also, in the US it is...
Porpoising is generally due to the road surface not being perfectly flat. It is not a tire issue. It depends primarily upon the spacing of road surface undulations and the wheelbase (distance between front and rear wheels) of the vehicle. If the undulations and the wheelbase compare in...
Talk to your guide. If Rivian is not registering your vehicle they will automatically send the MCO to you. I received mine via UPS about a month or so after picking up my R1S.
The vehicle came with 90 day temporary plates; so I am in no hurry to register and pay the additional sales tax my...
I could not have asked for a better guide than Britney. She did an excellent job helping me thru the purchase of my R1S. I am generally not an easy customer due to all the questions, follow-up questions, and follow-follow-up questions I ask. Britney was extremely patient with me, and answered...
Could be my eyes, but the tire in the pic does not look as though it is wearing evenly ... almost, but not quite evenly. To me it looks as though it is slightly "feathered" from left to right. It could also be an optical illusion. I wonder what a tire expert (not their part time help) would...
If you want to exceed 2.1 mi/kwh just drive slower. On a recent mostly highway trip to and from Indianapolis I wanted to get an idea of the difference in efficiency at different speeds. I drove in Conserve mode for this test. Weather conditions were nearly the same both ways.
On the way to...
I too am planning on having a set of All Season tires. I just have not been able to decide exactly which tire I want. I intend to have an off-road set (OEM ATs now) and an on-road set.
In the meantime here is some range info on my R1S:
20” Thuren Fabrication semi-gloss blk wheels, +50...
You might have to update your TPMS programming tool since Rivians did not exist when you bought the tool. I had to update mine (via mfg’s website) that I just bought 3 weeks ago as it’s firmware did not have latest version when I received it. The update actually added quite a few new vehicles...
