This week, for the first time since I purchaseda year ago, I charged out in the wild. I was quite impressed the seamless process at both RAN and Chargepoint locations.

I was quite shocked however, to find find a Chargepoint location—in Española, New Mexico—charging a mere $1 per hour! It appears to be subsidized by the Avanu quick stop.
There are a lot of places that are taking air emissions credits for providing charging at low or no cost. I find this a lot at level 2s, rarely at the higher level chargers. Nice find.

The Pasadena Amazon Fresh has a free 50 KW charger. Don’t know if that’s a common practice for them. It’s a Shell Recharge and the only problem is it’s down about 80% of the time.

Speaking of WalMart, I used one of their new Walmart EV charging network stations last month... it was seamless and FREE when activated via the Walmart App. It is my understanding that it is one of their first prototypes and they plan to start deploying nationwide later this year. They were installing cameras at each station... the technician said cameras would be monitored for ICE vehicles... nice!

My office has a Chargepoint that is $1/hr but its only 6kW and that rate is capped to 3 hours at which point it jumps to $5. If it were 50kW I'd use it exclusively.

Are you both talking about the same thing? If I understand @dgennetten correctly, that’s a great rate of $1 per hour at a 50kW charger / $1 for 50kWh / $0.02 per kWH

I think the $0.99 Tesla rate mentioned by @Osyras is per kWh but I’m not sure I’m understanding or doing the math and unit conversions correctly. I’m just curious…
Yeah that’s insane. It would cost $140 to “fill” my truck.

Yea that one never works and I think it has a half hour time limit or something as well. Most of the Pasadena owned "Shell" stations are .20 the last time I used them. There are some in Shopper's on Lake and new ones at Victory Park. That's the Pasadena wholesale rate without a transmission charge and cheaper than charging at home.

Yes, at $1 per hour. It's much cheaper than my garage!
Very impressive. I'm planning a fairly long trip this winter, and can only hope to find, or at least stumble across, some charging locations like this!

Yeah I was going to say the same thing. Tesla’s been jacking the rates. They’ve more than doubled in our area since spring for non Tesla. Close to EVgo rates which are also excessive.

There were two locations in the trial program and they were both free. That just changed to 10 cents per kwh and Walmart is building the first set of chargers in the Dallas Fort Worth area to include around 30 Walmart locations.

I assume these are WalMarts that do not already have an EA charging setup? Anyone know what's happening for the ones with EA stations? They definitely aren't free...
