My mobile service for Friday, 2 batteries totalling $518, .95 hours of labor, and some strange discount I'm not sure why is on my service order.

Oh and the 12V warning came back earlier this week after being reset for a week without issue.

Mine also came back after resetting in, within 24 hours. I haven't seen it mentioned here yet but saw a thread on Reddit where a Rivian tech had shared with someone that the latest software update changed the parameters for when the 12v warning gets triggered. They're probably trying to avoid situations where owners get stranded as a result of a dead 12v but also means they may be replacing a bit prematurely...fine if under warranty but annoying for those having to shell out $500+.

I think that change in parameters, plus a lot of owners hitting 3+ years on the Gen 1s, is why there seems to be a recent spike in 12v replacements. Hoping that means I can nurse mine a few weeks longer...would like to go the Ohmmu DIY route but they're currently backordered 2+ weeks.

It would be interesting to see if there is a correlation between dual and single 12V cars. So far, it seems like most, if not everyone, afflicted are dual?

I'm single, from a battery perspective

My estimate was $750 but was only charged $260 for dual battery replacement (I was only charged for one battery and no labor). It's crazy how all over the place Rivian is with the cost of these battery replacements.

I'm on my 3rd set in 4.25 years of ownership. So, what's that, average of just under a year and a half!

I ordered the Ohmmu batteries from Electruck4x4. Shipped out in two days and arrive on Thursday. BTW. The warning came back after about a week. I plan to reset one more time before I replace the batteries.

I’m having mine replaced tomorrow. ā€˜24 Gen 1 (so single battery). This my first replacement.

For the record, I’ve never received a warning via the system. I just got a text from Rivian saying I might experience problems, and to schedule a replacement.

Got my work order as well. $0.

My 2nd replacement mid April this year (5/30/23 build) was exactly like that, a text notification. Work performed same day of appointment. Ride share credit provided (your choice, Uber or Lyft).

Third set??? Six batteries in 4.25 yrs.. .that's terrible and the opposite of "green" which Rivian likes aspire to.

And as a stockholder.. who the hell is paying for all these batteries and labor?
Early on we used to postulate that Rivian "must have gotten a bad batch" from their original supplier and that the supplier was replacing them at no cost to Rivian. Now Rivian is on their second 12V battery supplier and we're still seeing dead batteries and now even in the much newer Gen2 R1 vehicles. At this point we have to assume it's not still "a bad batch" or a problem with the 12V batts from the second supplier. That being the case, and if we know it as a 3rd party, the battery suppliers certainly know it and I would assume they won't be paying for failed batts either?
