Quick q— how are you all gonna use the charge percentage slider feature? In my use case 70 and 85 is good enough.

Also there’s a mileage discrepancy on the charger percentage— phone app says 221 for 70% and truck says 235 for 70%

FWIW- if you leave your Rivian in "Shipping Mode" like I do (because I generally only use it on weekends) you can see you have an update available using the phone app, but you have to go out to the vehicle and take it out of "Shipping Mode" before it will let you start the actual update process.

Never thought about keeping it in shipping mode.

Like you I generally only use it on weekends. What are you giving up with shipping mode?

I'm assuming you just manually toggle it on/off on the weekends?

I have found being able to do a custom percent on our Tesla very useful. I like to go past 70% but usually not as high as 85.

I also find if dinner is running long and we are charging I can boost the percent to avoid the idle fees. Will need to see if I can change the Rivian level while charging.

The Motion Cam is H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1) with a resolution of 1280x720 @ 7013kbps and 30.00fps for the bed camera and 1376x976 @ 9997kbps and 30.00fps for the front, rear, and side cameras, so I imagine the Drive Cam would be the same.
Thanks for that!

I was hoping it would use H.265 codec as those files are considerably smaller (at the expense of requiring more CPU power to encode) vs. H.264.

You can also honk the horn for more than 1 second to trigger recording.
Me and any horn have a tense relationship…I only think of using it like a minute after I should have

Not giving up anything really, as the truck just generally sits in the driveway unused for 6 days or longer most weeks. I manually toggle it off when I want to use the truck, it's takes 20seconds to turn it off maybe.

Over the course of several test sessions lasting form 2-4 days in duration I'm averaging .5kWh loss per day (as measured by the Trip B odometer). A large reduction in vampire loss vs. regular mode.

It's not just the space, more and longer videos require much more CPU/GPU processing and it might slow down the onboard computer.
The camera is part of Driver Assist. All the heavy lifting is done by the ADAS subsystem, not the main computer.

Same. I'm currently traveling for 2 weeks and put it in shipping mode for the first time. Idk the exact drain levels, but it's definitely much lower for me too.

I've inky checked twice in 10 days, and drain is minimal

Do you know if Gear Guard remains active in shipping mode? The manual says it turns off the Gear Guard alarm, but I’m not sure whether it turns off the Gear Guard recording since that’s a different feature. I’ll try to test it later if no one knows.

Sorry, don't know the answer to that one as I have recording disabled at home since that is covered by my home NVR HD cams.

Yes.

if yes: My R1T picked up 3 days ago has 2023.10.1. It doesn't show any available updates. Do I just wait for them to come in succession?

I use and look at my Trip B regularly throughout the day as I’m trying to get a handle on my shitty efficiency. It’s dumb it moved to settings. I rarely use the screen controls to open the doors and the light settings should probably be under settings as well? At least give us the option to organize the menu bar. That said I do like the About screen layout better.

I set mine to 75%. My OCD was killing me at 70%. I figure 3/4 full would be good.

77.77 should be an option. I want to be lucky.
