Remove speed capping...
This discussion has come up a few times. There’s a thread here that I posted based on Bosch motor and Rivian engineering specifications. In short, IMO the math indicates that Gen 1 speed limit was/is likely based on the max RPM of the Bosch motors with a safety margin, just like RPM limiting on an ICE so you don’t over rev. Gen 2 motor design and/or gear ratio might allow a higher speed, don’t know.

As mentioned above, only a prototype was capable of 130 mph. No production Rivian ever had that speed.

Have you used the Apple music app on a Tesla? IMO it is even worse. The Apple music app causes the entire Tesla OS to crash on my car. The screen becomes less and less responsive until the vehicle eventually self-reboots.
Apple software on non-apple hardware has a very long history of miserable design.

Correct. Sport. Apparently it is restricted a bit in AP due to higher ride height available and both stability and stress to CV joints due to angles. But all based on internet discussions stemming from an RJ interview a while back I believe.
Sport having a bit more power than AP makes sense to me. And AP having a bit more comfort and efficiency than Sport also makes sense. I agree that it would be nice to have it displayed. My R1S is so fast in AP that I rarely get anywhere near full acceleration.

It is pretty amazing that we have come to expect continuous and significant upgrades to ride quality, efficiency, charging, AV, HVAC, lighting...most folks get what they drive off the lot with.

I agree! And this continous improvement and changes has been a game changer for me for vehicle enjoyment. To level vehicles I would have considered and driven in past and now off rhe table for me.

Production Rivians have never gone over 114.
Guess I need to put my offroad 20" wheels back on my truck and hit up the drag strip. Speedometer should be off by that much at top speed.

It's been rumored that tire/wheel size calibration will be included in an OTA update. It wasn't part of the past two updates and doesn't seem to be a part of 2024.35.00 either.

Is this something that will exist forever as a rumor, or is there hope that it's just delayed and really is eventually coming?
not a rumor as Rivian confirmed it but in typical Rivian Fashion, it may be months to years before you get it ?‍♂

Apple software shouldn't include the Apple Music apps on Tesla or Rivian.
Unless you could show us where it says Apple wrote those apps instead of Tesla/Rivian.

Same good for shitty Apple software on PCs!
The award of most shitty software on PCs go to Microsoft alone.
Did you see the news of PCs crashing around the world not too long ago?

Tesla and Rivian should fix their apps on their own platforms, isn't that the point of not providing CarPlay/AA?

It's pretty well known that CrowdStrike Falcon software caused that.

That was an issue with third-party software.

iTunes is the all-time worst software to ever be on a PC

Well, the catch is that the truck doesn't stay the way you drive off the lot. I immediately put my truck into sport mode and planned to leave it there, but the truck resets itself back into AP mode after a sleep so I always have to go into the drive mode menu to reselect it.

The Lightning I had was similar. I drove it in sport mode all the time for the better throttle response, and every time I got in it would ask me, "Stay in sport mode?" To which I'd just tap a button on the wheel to say "yes." I am pretty sure this is the EPA dictating the settings, but Rivian should offer an easier workaround. The throttle mapping and availability of full power has nothing to do with efficiency in an EV. You might still experience a tiny bit of lag before the rear motor hooks up, but you should still have full power available.
