It's also well-known that Microsoft opened their kernel access to security software like CrowdStrike unlike other OSes in the market.
Only because they were required by law to do so. Also, Linux had a similar issue with crowd strike earlier in the year.

Well, the catch is that the truck doesn't stay the way you drive off the lot. I immediately put my truck into sport mode and planned to leave it there, but the truck resets itself back into AP mode after a sleep so I always have to go into the drive mode menu to reselect it.

The Lightning I had was similar. I drove it in sport mode all the time for the better throttle response, and every time I got in it would ask me, "Stay in sport mode?" To which I'd just tap a button on the wheel to say "yes." I am pretty sure this is the EPA dictating the settings, but Rivian should offer an easier workaround. The throttle mapping and availability of full power has nothing to do with efficiency in an EV. You might still experience a tiny bit of lag before the rear motor hooks up, but you should still have full power available.
Maybe. But a gentler throttle mapping probably causes efficiency gains on average. I agree it should be easier to default to the mode of your choice.

It doesn't really. Unlike an ICE vehicle, you're not penalized for accelerating harder.

What makes you think efficiency is worse under harder acceleration other than how ICE vehicles add more fuel to accomplish the same task? In fact, an electric motor can be more efficient when operated at a higher load. This is a great advantage for EVs where you don't really have to choose between having fun and driving efficiently - as long as the manufacturer allows it.

Logic and looking at the average miles per kWh on the display would disagree with this assumption. There are other factors in play other than the calculations of workload to move the vehicle from point A to point B that increase effeciency loss.

Here is an interesting article with an unscientific test showing it is less efficient doing harder acceleration.

Just having the throttle mapped more aggressively doesn't increase acceleration by itself. You actually have to use it, and for the purposes of the EPA test, throttle mapping is irrelevant.

Besides, Rivian rates the performance and standard variants identically. If they are truly different due to throttle mapping, then they should be rated differently. Forcing the truck into AP mode to meet EPA efficiency numbers is like the dieselgate veil that set the car to a very specific tune for the purposes of meeting the emissions test. In reality, you don't drive the car in that tune. If you bought a performance vehicle, you should be able to drive it like one. If that means slightly less range in the default config, that's fine. You can always switch to AP mode (or conserve mode) if you choose, and the vehicle should not reset.

Well, you weren’t arguing this originally were you. You simply said “It doesn’t really. Unlike an ICE vehicle, you’re not penalized for accelerating harder“, which is silly because of course as you accelerate more it’s going to use more energy.

If you want to discuss comparisons between EVs and ICE as it pertains to efficiency, that’s different.

Very interesting the feature in the app was released before the actual vehicle update. First time I've seen that. Hopefully the update is near. Loving the frequent updates now, literally a new easter egg with each update. And hopefully bug fixes.

Gear Gaurd live cam probably won't work until the vehicle is updated. This has been the pattern for several of the feature rollouts. If I recall correctly, the update with the new graphics was available on the phone first.

Fair point. The graphics didn't affect the functionality of the car though. Folks who don't frequent the forum will be asking so how do I view my cameras from the app.. until the vehicle update happens. I think the vampire drain folks will be complaining more than ever once they start waking the car to run the cameras.
