Curious if anyone thinks Rivian will offer an acceleration boost software upgrade to purchase at some point? I bought the boost for my Tesla and was very happy with it - i'd happily shell out 2500 bucks to knock off another half second to 60 - and you know the trucks has it on tap.

They better, I have no idea why they made a truck this slow. 0-60 in 3.0s, what is this? 2021?

Lol, faster!? You lot are never satisfied! I’ll take an update to slow mine down so it doesn’t fall apart after the warranty is up

Real talk: I'd love a PIN locked "slow" mode.

+2 to needing a slow mode.

But I do believe there will be a boost upgrade in the future based upon the +100hp and similar incremental torque boost being touted in the dual motor version.

I can’t believe people pay $2500 to get half a second on their Tesla. My Model 3 is fast enough!

When it comes to power, people have paid much more for less. The upgrade amounted to 50hp for $2,000 or $40/hp. A quick google search gave me this handy list which shows plenty of things that cost more than $40/hp:

That said back to the original post…the Tesla Model 3 acceleration boost lowered the 0-60 from 4.2s to 3.9s. The Model 3 performance does it in 3.1s.

Our R1T does it in 3.0s, which is 3 acceleration boost packs faster than the acceleration boosted Model 3.

Even if a boost pack was made available, it would be traction not power that would be the factor in getting into the 2s as it already is. Some stickier, wider tires might do it even with the existing software.

Valet mode, teenager mode, etc. Plenty of reasons to have a reduced functionality mode. More speed is hardly what the truck needs.
