I drove 470 from Parker northeast past the airport then west to 36 to Boulder yesterday, and this was my first time trying out ADAS on this route. Very disappointing.

I was surprised at how little of the route was mapped for ADAS, and even on some sections where it was, there would be smaller 0.2 or 0.5 mile sections where it wasn't and ADAS had to disengage.

For those who have been driving with ADAS for some time, is the mapping still a "work in progress" or likely to be updated, or should I assume this is it?

Given the frequent breaks in coverage, I think it is more work to engage / dis-engage / re-engage ADAS than just to skip it all together, making the system somewhat pointless for this route.

I'll note that I am coming from a Tesla with FSD which was way more advanced, but also, not something that I particularly valued either or used often. But I knew that if I wanted to use it, it would work and do so pretty consistently.

I think its a work in progress. Theres a section of I-76 right before 88th ave, thats about 100 feet long, that isnt mapped, or whatever excuse Rivian has. I have turned it on, just before this 100 foot section, only for the system to freak out moments later.

Some of the ADAS stuff is really stupid.

FYI, many with Gen 1 Rivians have purchased a comma 3x and mounted on windshield. This open source ADAS is dramatically better than Gen 1 ADAS and better than Gen 2 ADAS as currently implemented. For me, upgrading my Gen 1 R1S with a comma is like having a completely new car. I know it's not optimal to have a near $100K car and need a $1000 add-on to have a functional ADAS, but it's at least a solution as Rivian is clearly not going to fix Gen 1 ADAS woes.

There are oddly some lanes on E470 that aren’t mapped, but others that are. I’ve found the far left lane to be mapped the entire time outside of a small portion near the I70 interchange. Fortunately, at 85 I’m usually faster than most of the traffic so hunkering in the left lane for the majority of the drive is ok.

Second this. I have over 9400mi of comma driven miles and it's a breath of new life for Gen 1 and currently out paces AP+ of Gen 2

It’s mostly due to the construction and widening of E-470. It needs to be remapped since it’s changed significantly.

I also came over from driving Tesla for the last 10 years. The Comma Open Pilot makes the R1 even better than the basic Tesla autopilot. Give it a try.

Another Comma 3x Infomercial

LOL everytime one of you post about ADAS I feel a Comma 3x Infomercial starting.
Yet none of us are paid for our endorsements. Kinda tells you something.

Us Kia, Nissan, and Tesla EV owners are laughing that you have to add comma 3 to your expensive truck.

Have you tried it yet? I’ll be using it on all my next cars moving forward. I like it better than Tesla’s options.
