I've been listening to the Rivian and from time to time I can hear the 'tick tock' that I have been able to firmly associate with the air suspension doing its thing, but while sitting behind a vehicle with my lights on - I noticed that the air suspension will sometimes adjust on its own for seemingly unknown reasons. In my case I was at a light behind another vehicle and I noticed the vehicle lowered... then rose... then picked a spot between those two distances and settled. I've noticed that in one instance it only lowered on one side, but then corrected itself. I've tried to turn off "Auto" for the suspension and I'm in "All Purpose Mode" with "Standard" height selected - but sometimes the vehicle just decides "hey... let's try something new" and it's not clear at all why it's making an adjustment at all.

Some of this may be normal I guess - since I'm typically driving sports cars so maybe "air suspensions" are possessed by the car's spirit in some way - but it's just weird, mostly because it just seems to be random out of the blue activity. Anyone else notice it?

In auto mine will adjust at a stoplight, but it's an even adjustment - not one side lower. If I was going fast then come to a stop it will pause for a second then slowly raise up from the more aero low position. You might want to have them check yours if it's not consistent.

Mine did this the other day and wouldn't stop adjusting...I did a soft reset and then it was fine. Very weird.

same. about 4-5 times (that ive noticed) it self-adjusted at a stop light. ive never turned on the Auto for the ride height.

another oddity. there was one time about 2 weeks ago where my left side was visibly lower than my right (looked like one side was in Low the other side in Standard). i drove around, lowered it to Low and then back to Standard and when i got home it was level. hasnt happened since.

They’ve been adjusting themselves at red lights since they first started shipping to customers. There was an update last year that reduced the adjustment at stoplights but at some point in the last couple of updates there has been another change that has made the adjustments more common.

Necessary? Who knows. Unusual or uncommon? Not at all.

Mine does this. Almost like it’s alive. Not sure why, as others have said, but it seems to do it less now that I am not in auto ride height and also have kneel turned off. Still happens though.

Strange indeed.

Mine does this and I don’t know why. My R1S is currently in the shop and this was one of 23 items they need to look into/ address. I’ve now been without my car for 13 days. I hope they fix everything properly.

The trucks have ride level sensors in them and from my understanding will still auto adjust if there is variation over a certain threshold at one or more corners. If your seeing a lot of adjustment it could be that you have an air leak.

The auto ride height adjustment in the drive mode screen works in all purpose and conserve modes and will switch between standard and low ride heights based on speed to maximize efficiency. So you would probably see adjustment there if you just got off the highway it would be trying to raise itself back to standard for maximum comfort. Above 55 it will switch to low ride height to maximize efficiency.

I have the auto ride height adjustment disabled on both of mine.

I’ve been noticing this more recently in my drive and as I pull into the garage. Granted, we live on a hill and the terrain at the end of the drive is fairly uneven so the truck is waiting there with some moderate articulation in the suspension. when I go to put it in for the night, it usually does a little dance as I turn to go down our inclined driveway. Most of the movement is on one side. I keep auto adjustments off.

Today it did something different. I started up the drive and got the “suspension raising, stop to avoid damage” warning. I waited patiently for what seemed like almost a minute while the suspension figured out what it wanted to be and, after a lot of compressor work, put itself back in standard. I had never taken it out of standard. It might be circumstantial but I also updated to 2023.30 last night.

Should I be worried about a suspension leak?

Is this related to the occasional tone and loud knock when parked?

Maybe? I just hear normal air suspension sounds.
