Same issue. Rebooting the infotainment center did nothing to solve the issue.

I did the soft reboot and it worked...but only briefly. Within a couple of days, if not sooner, Alexa was gone. Very frustrating.

I've been having a problem where alexa seems to have a hard time connecting but does seem to come back after awhile.

We have a brand new R1S. Alexa worked the first day and since then hasn't been working. I can confirm other internet services work (maps, spotify, etc.) but Alexa just says "Can't connect." I'll give the soft restart a shot, but it seems like that's hit or miss.

In our case it certainly doesn't come back after awhile. It has been consistently not available for 3 days straight, no matter how long we're in the car.

Very glad to see the Alexa fix on the forums. Alexa quit working for me last week, but it wasn't until yesterday that I had the time to deal with it. I turned to this forum to see if there was an easy fix, and found this thread.

It took two soft reboots before Alexa "woke up" and asked me to log into my Amazon account to reconnect my Rivian to my account. That worked. Alexa is back chatting with me again, and everyone is happy again.

Prior to this glitch my only other problems were 1. my key fob stopped working (it just needed a new battery) and 2. about the same time as the key fob failure to work, my Andriod phone stopped working as a key because it suddenly had "low connectivity" (or something like that). The only way to start the truck was with a key card, or Hubby's phone - exact same make and model as mine -which had no problems acting as a key. Only difference in our phones was my phone had an abundance of apps demanding bluetooth, and his had only one app. Ultimate solution was to remove all the noncritical Bluetooth hogging apps from my phone and pair it again with the Rivian. Success!

Does anyone know if this is permanently fixed in 2024.19 OTA or not?

NO !
Just quit on me yesterday, will do a soft reboot later today, in the mean time I'm streaming through my phone via BT. Second time she's gone offline.....she must be a Union Member..... ?

I find that mine loses connection to Alexa a lot - like after the last few updates it is as if the signal has gotten worse. It can sometimes take 30 mins or more driving before it finds signals and comes back to life. Quite annoying.

I've had this issue after the Halloween update, I took car into shop, they said reset all settings which I did, but the issue still exist. It worked perfectly fine and reboot would help, but now it keeps asking me to download it install the app. Looks like 1st gen cars are being ignored

Gen2 here. I've had Alexa grayed out before too.

Also persistently have the "you have to download the spotify app when it's safe to do so" error so I've never experienced having Alexa play a song through Spotify before.

It's not just a Gen1 thing.

Sucks, Rivian support seems to be baffled by this. I guess we have to deal with the growing pains of company. I might disable Alexa altogether.

I use Alexa to control a lot of things as I find the touchscreen almost dangerous to operate. So, when Alex is down, it's incredibly frustrating.

That said, I think this mostly has to do with our Rivian's having a hard time getting cell signal to establish a connection.
