After four months of listening to Amazon music glitching getting worse and worse, I had a service appointment at the Gaithersburg service center (took 65 days). They kept the car for a week, and even though I sent them videos of the glitching in progress, they claimed it was essentially my fault because I wasn’t using the right solid state hard drive for my gear guard camera recordings. While I found that hard to believe, I bought the drive they recommended and of course it made no difference. I also showed them that whether there was anything plugged into the USB ports or not the glitching continued. I realize that they were not taking me seriously so I called Rivian corporate service and asked for a recommendation, and they sent me to the Glen Burnie service center, which I got into the next day. (I know, unheard of to get an appointment that fast.) They kept my car for four days, but two of those were Saturday and Sunday. The tech called me and said the car passed all of the electronic diagnostics, including troubleshooting all the wiring. They had done a ride along with me, and knew that the glitching was an actual real thing, so they checked with Rivian corporate and found out that Rivian had determined that there was a software anomaly between Rivian and Amazon that needed to be resolved that was more than just this glitching. Apparently some people (including on this forum) have reported Alexa refusing to acknowledge you or do what you tell it to do, even though the commands are prescribed Rivian commands. Corporate says this will be fixed in an upcoming software update, although there is no timetable for that. I am used to waiting for software updates after eight years with Teslas, and three years as a Tesla beta tester, so this is not an issue for me. I’m just glad to know that they understand the problem and will fix it eventually. I’ve attached a video so you can see what I’m talking about in action.

I have been getting the glitching Amazon music, but it seems like only since the last update. I’ll have to try other sources. I hadn’t tried troubleshooting it, but I assumed it was either network issue or something had changed with the stream buffering in the last update.

I have what I assume is the same issue and I just dropped it off this morning at the SC for that and some other work. They have supposedly been investigating and working on it since I put in the ticket a month ago, but this has been going on for probably a few months. I had been waiting assuming an update would fix it, but obviously nothing yet. It's definitely pretty annoying and if they try to tell me its normal or expected I will push the issue higher as well, but hopefully by now they are working on a real fix.

I did notice that my beloved Alexa ignores me a few times when I call on her, but Amazon Music playback has been fine.

Good to know this. Thank you for posting it.

For me, the Amazon Music glitching started specifically with the 2025.10 release after having been stable for quite some time (had some issues early on after I initially took delivery but this eventually cleared up with software updates). I've always suffered from glitchy Alexa (immediate hangups, etc) and this extends to my other in-home Alexa devices and not just the Rivian. The Rivian Alexa issues tend to be most common when leaving the house and transitioning from wifi to the vehicle's cellular data. But it can happen any time. I also notice Alexa glitching around certain intersections where I've been assuming the cellular data network is congested due to high device density.

A fix for these can't come soon enough! If they would at least get things back to where they were prior to 2025.10 I'd be much happier.

Yes... since last update it glitches for me daily. I kept assuming that it was the network. But, its full bars on the connectivity. Hope they fix in the next release. It's getting very very annoying. Thanks for bringing this up with Rivian.

The in vehicle connection and using hotspot on phone have the same issues. Just fyi in case someone hasn't tried that yet.

Interesting. No issues with Alexa or Amazon Music here. However that same SC made the same claim when I was there that "a slow USB flash drive was causing the displays to refresh slowly". Interestingly, I've never noticed any issue with the displays, and I agree that it's BS. However after they replaced my 12V batteries (due to the recent "tail lights flashing" issue), I noticed I had to reformat my flash drive. Something in the battery replacement process made it corrupted. I noticed mine before I'd even pulled out of the parking lot, but maybe something to check (for other folks) if you've recently had any 12V service.

It's a buffering issue. Whereas Spotify downloads all or most of a song at a time, Amazon music (at least on Rivian) is downloading a small portion of the song. So, loosing cell connection for 10 seconds on Spotify is not an issue on Amazon music / Alexa it is.
