Pretty much what the title says. Ambient temps in our area are 75-90 lately and I don't think I've ever seen my battery lower than 94 degrees over the last 3-4 weeks. I leave our garage window open overnight to keep it aired out but never seems to cool much. Clearly can get much cooler if you hit prep for fast charging and will drop to 70s over a bit.

Probably just over analyzing, let the BMS do its job but at least some online searching suggests 60-80 degree temps are best for battery longevity?

Do you have vampire drain over night? If not don't worry about it. If you're losing a lot of battery overnight, then you have a problem. Heat comes from energy. Look at the percentage or miles when you finish driving. If it doesn't change by the next day, everything is ok. I'd expect fluctuation of a couple miles, plus or minus 1-5. If you lose 100 miles. That's a problem.

It's been hot as hell here on the east coast, but my R1T has been in the garage for the last 2 days and my battery is at 91 degrees here this morning. I think it's just how it is. I have Gen 1 btw.

Nope. It drops typically 1% overnight if not plugged in but usually it's connected to my charger if it's not in use.

Guess I just figured Rivians BMS would cool it a bit more than it does

I've always been a worrier. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I don't think they worry about cooling it below 110F, unless you are preparing for a DC charge. I don't know the exact cutoff.

Hell yeah, my battery gets hot. Here in Texas, that's a given. And now that RivianRoamer just added battery temperature to it's tracking, you too can obsess over how hot or cold your poor battery is. For example, here is my battery being AC charged in a garage with the door partially open!

Pretty toasty, is that just after driving?

Also, in case others stumble upon this. RIvian has not started exposing battery temp for Gen 2 R1 yet. Just R2 and Gen 1 R1 right now. I suspect it'll be soon though.

Yes, but now it's been over an hour since I plugged it in and it's still sitting at 108F.

Also, just looking at a DC fast charge that I did earlier at 8AM, after a 174 mile drive, battery temperatures are much higher than that. I don't really know what to expect, but I heard Gen 1 cooling systems are not that good.
