So I've been stuck in a parking lot for 3 hours trying to get someone to bring me my spare keys an hour away lol... funny thing is my key card is sitting right above the cup holders as I've been using that to start my car since my key doesn't recognize most of the time.

The key usually sits in my wallet but last couple weeks it's been sitting there and now this happens... called rivian support to have them open it remotely but guess there's too many requests as it didn't work. Kinda annoying to have these issues still

Sounds like this might be a minute. The latest email said to call and get rideshare credits, not to request a remote unlock anymore...

Have you tried calling support, they may be able to open the truck for you remotely.

I was able to get in the truck, just not drive it.

This is why I’m Team Fob for all my vehicles … you can’t always trust that cloud services will work.

As someone who uses the keycard all the time, you'll be fine. Just don't panic when it takes several seconds to unlock the door with the card. Just keep holding up to the handle and be patient. It takes a while for the car to recognize the card.

Also, if you put it into drive once you get into the car, you won't have to hold the card up to the door to put the car in gear. You get a short grace period upon unlocking to put it into gear.

I find it odd that its so difficult when valet parking is a primary application of the key.

I don't even bother giving the valet the keycard, and instead I give them the fob.

Did this affect any of the in-truck systems? Nav, music streaming, etc?

I’m traveling so didn’t get to experience this issue first hand.
